HSBC £175 Bonus

Sooo I was preparing to complete a switch to take advantage of the HSBC £175 bonus, I had set up a donor account and waited for the debit card to arrive.

When it did, last sunday I came on this website to find the link. The little advice summary said HSBC were having issues, and hoped to have the link working 'next week'. Then by about tuesday of last week, that text was updated to say 'this week'.

When i check now this morning, there is no mention of the £175. Am I safe to say that this additional promotion is being dropped altogether and should start my switch anyway?

It would be good if I website representative could shed some light on this, as the text was alluding to communication between themselves and HSBC, with them waiting for a conclusion. Which they may well have had, but this hasn't been stated for our information.

I doubt you'll get a 'website representative' to reply here. You could email MSE direct if you really want the info from them.

But I think you'll find the 175 offer is over. This week's MSE newsletter described only the 150 offer - which implies the 175 one had ended. Previous weekly newsletters did mention the 175 offer - and a deadline of 1st April was mentioned for it. But HSBC would be within their right to withdraw it early.

I agree it's remiss of MSE not to mention this early withdrawal, if that's the case, but the fact it's not even mentioned in the 20th March newsletter suggests it's history.

The £175 deal was an MSE only deal that gave a bonus of £25 against the standard £150 deal.

HSBC were finding they were often unable to track people who switched through MSE, particularly if people followed the link but didn't complete the switch right away. This lead to complaints from people not getting the extra £25 and HSBC had no real way of verifying it if the original link tracking didn't work. After a few weeks of MSE saying "it might not work properly, contact them after you've switched" it seems HSBC have simply done away with the bonus altogether.
