O/S Daily Saturday 23 March 2019
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need one, and those who are poorly or looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Dry but cloudy start to the day here, but that's how most days are starting off at the moment.
DH and myself enjoying first cuppas, I'm showered and dressed as I'm working, DS1 still in his pit.
Dinner last night was breaded chicken portions, chips/jacket potato and beans. I had fishcakes and veg. Not sure what we'll be having for dinner.
Yesterday I was reasonably productive, and got all the jobs done on the list, so had time to have a look on the pc for some recipe ideas.
Today will be a chill day - possibly visiting the parents later.
Keep safe and well x

Good morning and thanks for starting NMLC
Seems to be an ok sort of morning out there.
Snoozer, glad to hear that Laura is doing well, and Steve seems to have stabilised, hope it continues.
OL, your funeral outfit sounded fine, though as TA said. people seem to be a bit more relaxed about funeral wear these days.
DP1, glad the baby is coming on well.
We had quiet day yesterday, I went to shopping centre as planned for birthday presents, it was really busy.
Today it'll be the usual household jobs. I want to go to Morries to check out the carpet cleaning machine they hire out - we have a V*x, but I don't think it has the power of a commercial style machine.
We'll see how much it costs to hire anyway.
I'm tired, I've had a run of particularly bad nights. So many of us on here are poor sleepers, I envy those who just lie down and sleep!! (like my DH)
Hope everyone has as good a day as possible
Take care folks0 -
Morning folks and thanks NMLC. Looks quite promising weather out there with sun forecast.
No real plans for today but I am thinking I might trip off on the bus a couple of towns along. I'm not looking for anything in particular but they have a Wilko which is always worth a browse. Can I cope with such excitement!!
Have a good day folks whatever you are up to and ((HUGS)) for the poorlies, sad, worried or lonely. More good news from SNOOZER about Steve's bloods. Take care all xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Good morning all
Thank you for starting us off nmlc
OL pleased the funeral went as well as these things can.
DP1 so pleased for Laura and the baby
We should be going to visit mother this morning but I have a bit of a cough, nothing much, but not sure if I should visit as some of the residents are frail.
Take care allIf you walk at night no-one will see you cry.0 -
Morning All
A lovely bright day here but not sure I trust the weather enough to hang the bedding out! I'll give it another half an hour and see.
The bathrooms are cleaned, DS1s bedroom has been cleared of all his clutter and someone is coming to collect the bed from there this morning. Hopefully I can have it cleared enough to start painting later. The little bed is coming on, gone from tired pine to white but needs another couple of coats yet.
Hope all's well with you, have a good weekend. Take care. XX0 -
Morning everyone
I went into town yesterday afternoon as I was going for a walk anyhow, to get something for my neighbour, and somehow managed to come home with a new pair of shoes. In my defence they were reduced and I did need another pair.
At some point today or tomorrow I want to clean the bathroom and kitchen, the rest of the house got done yesterday.
I can’t find my favourite reading glasses. I had them yesterday, and know I didn’t take them out with me because I always use varifocals when I’m out. They could be anywhere. In the past I’ve even found them in the salad crisper in the fridge, and to this day I haven’t a clue how they got there. The sad thing is that I know that it must have been me who put them there.
Have a good a Saturday everyone.0 -
Morning everyone.
SR - sorry to hear about your sleep, I can't offer any advice only sympathy.
Holly - I have the same problem with reading glasses. Now only use cheapie ones from a pound shop and have loads around the house and car. The other week I found three pairs in the car and two in my handbag.
This morning I'm doing a tip run, a shopping journey, a hospital visit and then going to my own home for an overnight stay! :j
Yesterday DM really enjoyed her two visitors, they overlapped a bit though it didn't matter. I waited in the wee cafe downstairs where they joined me for a chat afterwards.
The patient Wi-fi doesn't seem to allow the transmission of emails or watching iPlayer so I've tethered DM's iPad to her mobile. She was delighted and settled down to catch up on Holby City straight away. I phoned BT to arrange a significant increase in her data allowance. Happy now!
As with Camelot the sun is shining here though it won't last too long I'm sure.
Good wishes going out to all, good bad or indifferent. Happy Saturday to everyone.0 -

Morning! Forgot to say friend who visited yesterday morning brought me a coffee able to upcycle, and I also fetched a belfast type sink from Freecycle so will be doing the former when able, and the latter will be going on a stand [which I have to make] under the outside tap.
Haberdashers visited, fancies purchased for current dress project, birthday present purchased, now have to find the birthday cards...
Let the day of eating too much commence!
Good news abounding all over the place for everyone, that's nice
Wotcha absentees
Superb Saturday!Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0 -
I spent yesterday with baby grand daughter so her Mum could work from home and forgot how tiring but enjoyable babies can be so had a quiet evening with my feet up.
A grocery delivery arrived last night so I have cooked pork ribs and veg in a soup which is in the fridge for tonight. Planning a late breakfast of cheesy scrambled eggs on toast and then sorting out some parcels that arrived yesterday and maybe doing a bit of tidying of the integral garage. I like to have a store of extra toilet rolls, toiletries, laundry and dish washing stuff and tins of tomatoes, soup, stock cubes etc and things need sorting out to be out of the way yet organised. I don't want to mention B****t but it looks as if having a few extra things would not do any harm.

I am so glad your Mum is feeling a bit brighter and that you can be at home for a while. Well done on getting wifi etc arranged for her as it gives her something to focus on that is not health and will make her feel more independent.

About seven years ago we went to a family friend's funeral and were surprised when we got to the crematorium to see another funeral party dressed in cowboy outfits or pink sparkly dresses. It turned out the deceased was a Country and Western fan and had asked that no one wear black etc.

Morning all
Nice day here so some washing on the line and another load in the wm, OH is doing the shopping today as I am working tomorrow so this is my only day off this weekend.
I need to walk up to the PO to return a top I bought on Amazon its a lovely black top with white lace around the bottom which fitted really nicely but when I washed to for the first time the lace came out really yellow it looked horrible and I only used fairy non bio as normal, anyway I contacted the company and they have agreed to refund :j which is great.
My appetite is just returning to normal and I really fancy a steak for dinner with a few chips and a roasted tomato
Need to swish and swipe the kitchen but that's it for today.
Have good days all xx
Snoozer glad to hear Laure is doing well xx0
