I recently moved about £140k in £10k chunks by faster payments from Nationwide to various other banks and also NS&I. Over several days and no problems, no queries.

umm, indeed, what i should have writ was: gosh! barclays only allow 30k a day! how very unfair!
-- all this messing about trying to transfer the money is seriously beginning to suck all the fun out of it!

Er, you actually quoted the post which said "Over several days".
The questions that get the best answers are the questions that give most detail....

Well that will help a little.

You'll only have to transfer about £399800:rotfl:

It says £50K on their website - and "To make payments over these limits, you’ll need to visit a branch".

    https://www.barclays.co.uk/help/payments/payment-information/online-banking-limits/

Seems very straight forward to me.

i thought it would be straightforward too!

though i should perhaps have been wary when the limits they set seem to vary according to which webpage one looks at e.g:
    https://www.barclays.co.uk/current-accounts/online-payment-limits/

oh well, getting there slowly; have managed to move £130k so far. another 2 weeks or so should see it all done, but it sure does suck the fun out of having a large bank balance for once!

What happened when you tried £50K? If it works - great! If it doesn't, file a complaint

Any reason why you didn't go to a Branch if you wanted to make the payment in one go? Although even Branch would have had to split it, as FP limit is £250K.
