council parking ticket appeal - no white lines

Anyone successfully appealed against a council parking ticket where the white lines around a box were worn out.
My council gave me a ticket despite 90% of the paint being worn out, I did not see the box and assumed there was no parking resticions.
Is it worth taking this further?
