PPI mis-sold by broker (Norton Finance) who no longer trade?

I had PPI mis-sold on a loan from 2004. I approached GE Capital who the loan was with, but was dismissed, as they say the PPI was sold by a broker Norton Finance, who apparently no longer trade (at least not under the same name!)
GE Capital have said they will not respond to any further correspondence.
It was definitely mis-sold as I was not aware I had it and didn't need it as I had sufficient sickness/redundancy cover with my employment at the time.
I also paid off the loan early when I sold my house in 2006, even though the PPI payment of over £1800 had been added to the actual loan. I certainly was not made aware of all this when I took it out.
I realise time is running out but not sure what to do as the broker has 'ceased trading' .
This is potentially alot of money that I am owed. Any suggestions please?x

It's pre-regulation and you have no one to complain to.

Both are sufficient reasons to not waste any more energy on it.

Time never started for you. 2004 is pre-regulation for brokers and the company isnt trading. As its pre-regulation, you dont get access to the FSCS.

You have never been owed a penny.

Not surprising they are refusing to respond again. They did not (mis) sell you anything.

None of which matters a jot, I'm afraid, as your finance was taken out with a broker who was not regulated at the time of the sale and has subsequently ceased trading.

    No one is "owed" anything.

    Give up, I'm afraid.
