Knocking sound when braking

Hi guys.
I’ve been to mechanic to get this knocking sound looked at. It’s a fast knocking sound, and gets faster as I come to a stop. It sound like it’s coming from the front left of car.
It only occurs after / when I’ve done a long-ish journey (45+ min). It only happens when I ever so slightly touch the brakes to come to a gradual stop (20mph-0mph).
The mechanic has had a look at it and cannot see anything wrong with my brakes.
I personally think it has something to do with the fact it only occurs when my car has warmed up & this could be why he mechanic can’t see anything: as they only look at the car once it’s been stood in their yard once they’ve got round to looking at it. But I could be easily, completely wrong.
Does anyone have any idea of what it could be?

100% no idea - if it got slower as you come to a stop then pads/calipers.
Nothing I can think of that would get faster as you slow down.....does it knock when say your in neutral and you brake, ie engine just ticking over?0 -
What car? Make/model/year?
If it's front wheel drive, could be drive shafts universal joints, but that's just a guess, could be almost anything.I think this job really needs
a much bigger hammer.

Is the brake pedal vibrating? (Could be faulty ABS).0

It will not be your brakes it the sound is getting faster whilst the car is slowing down. Take the car out and listen some more, maybe take someone with you, for another opinion.0 -
