O/S Daily Friday 22 March 2019
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need one, especially those who are poorly or looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Now light but cloudy start to the day, dry underfoot - I've got washing line dried for the last 2 days, hoping for another today.
DH up and gone to work stupid early, DS1 now getting ready for work, I'm enjoying first cuppa and just finished by porridge whilst on here.
Dinner last night was egg and veg stir fried rice, veg with noodles and pork steaks with a sauce for the menfolk. Tonight will be something quick and simple to throw in the oven probably breaded chicken portions, chips and beans, I'll probably have mushroom omelette and salad or jacket potato and salad - fancy a veg based meal.
Yesterday I was quite productive, I kept going with the washing and drying, and cleaned both bathrooms and shoved the hoover round the upstairs. I did then make a start on DS2's bedroom which I continue hopefully today. I did ask him if he minded if I gave it a deep clean and mega sort out and he is fine with it, I'm finding it quite difficult but it does need to be done. He has so many clothes that I suspect don't fit him, so that's the next job.
I did get into town and do what was needed and a couple of household admin jobs on the telephone and pc.
On to today -
I'll be heading to the SM first thing, then home to unpack the shopping and do some downstairs housework and continue with DS2's room.
Keep safe and well x

Good morning, and thanks NMLC
It looks asif it's going to be another nice day here. Yesterday was very pleasant until about 4 0' clock when it looked very grey and stormy, but nothing happened.
Not a lot going on here at the moment, just the usual household jobs. I'm not going out much because of my continuing almost total deafness (roll on Monday)
Today though we'll go to a local shopping centre, because I need a present for Dgs who is one next week, and an M&S gift card for a relative who is 60 on the same day.
I probably won't go to the usual girls night in, again because of my deafness.
Hope everyone has a good day
Take care folks0 -
Morning folks and thanks NMLC for starting us off. Another dry and mild start here.
The 3 DGDs are all still in the land of nod. Half an hour before I need to get them up and moving. Eldest is off on a school trip today so her packed lunch is ready and waiting.
Once they have all been dispatched to school I shall enjoy my breakfast in peace and then get cracking on the Friday Tidy. I don't much like Fridays, they roll around too often!
DD is hoping to make a start on opening up the caravan this weekend but first of all we need a new awning as our previous one hit the tip at the end of last season. DD and bf are off to look at some ex display ones after work and school. The chap who runs the caravan supply shop says they have our size in stock. Fingers crossed they pass muster!
Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) for the poorlies, sad, worried or lonely who need them. Nice to hear that MR GINTOT is home and that Dp1's DGD is making such good progress. Take care all xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Morning All
Friday at last! It's been a busy old week. Just finished painting the chest of drawers, that can go upstairs later then I can make a start on the bed. I made a quick trip to Ikea yesterday for a mattress and some bedding.
I'll get the housework done when I get home later and must sort some washing, haven't really had enough of any sort of load for the last few days.
Hope Mr Gintot has had a good night.
Good news on the baby's weight dp1.
Hope your DM is still heading the right way Gers.
Right, the shower calls, have a happy Friday, take care. XX0 -
Good morning and thank you for starting the thread nmlc.
OH and DS are going out for the day so I've fed them bacon sabdwiches and they will be off in a minute. I'll go to the corner shop for bread as now they have been fed there is none left and I'd quite like some toast.
As I have the place to myself, I can get the Friday Tidy done noisily and then I'll be free. I need to open all the windows as everywhere smells of bacon. Nice if you are having a meaty breakfast, less so if not. As ever, there is washing to do.
Lovely to see good news from gintot and dp1 yesterday.
Sending good wishes to Those who are worried or unwell.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Morning all
Looks like its going to be another nice day here cooler in the mornings and evenings and then nice during the day, off to work for me today but its Friday :j I feel much better but still cant eat proper dinners, last night OH had fish and chips from the van that comes to the village but I just couldnt face them I had a couple of boiled eggs and toast.
I need to clean the fridge out and get rid of a few bits where we have not been eating going to have to chuck some stuff but it cant be helped.
DP I am so glad the baby is doing well xx
Hope Gintot John had a good night.
Have good days all xx0 -
Morning everyone
Yesterday I couldn’t seem to get going at all and all I managed to achieve all day was cooking my dinner. On the plus side, there is enough left over for today so it will just be a microwave job.
I’ve got some documents that I forgot I had that came from my parents’ home when we cleared it out. I want to go through those today and sort out what can be shredded.
If I’ve got the energy this afternoon I may go for a walk in the park. Other than that, I don’t have any plans.
OL I hope the funeral goes as well as these things can.
DP1 It's good to hear that your granddaughter is doing so well.
Have a good a day everyone.0 -
Good morning
So glad the mornings are so light now ...getting up at silly times as is my want doest seem so bad when its daylight
Mum day was tolerable although if she asked me what I thought about Coronation Street once she asked me 30 times its really frustrating but not her fault I know and she is oblivious as she takes a sip of her wine then asks again. Its amazing really she can remember all the characters names in both Coro and Emmerdale but cant remember what food she has just eaten
Ended up having to attend a training course last night for my Friday night work... didn't finish till after 10 so with tonights session too that will also be late I am beginning to think its more than I wanted to take on at the moment.
Today I have my course rewrite to crack on with but i'll squeeze in some housey stuff. Food wise I've found some ciabatta rolls so thinking fish finger butties later
Right time to crack on have a great day all0 -
OL sorry missed your post. Your outfit sounds perfect hope it all goes smoothly0

Good morning everyone,
I've returned from my travels. I'm knackered, my feet and legs are killing me and I had mixed success. Wednesday 5am - Thursday 11pm was non stop, taking in Manchester, London, Basel and back to Manchester and visiting 2 exhibitions. Much of my spending goes on expenses thankfully but it gets messy when you're exchanging GBP to CHF, I'll let my bank catch up and organise it to be paid asap.
I've got my parents visiting this weekend, they should be arriving at 6.30ish, so that'll give me some time to nip to the SM and get some ironing done - I hope.
I've also a ton of work to catch up on, so I'll love you and leave you all. Have a nice weekend0 -
Just trying to summon up some enthusiasm to start cleaning round after the departure of the DGDs for school.. Time wasting in other words.
OL your funeral outfit sounds perfect but, to be honest, these days anything seems to go. Gone are the days when everyone turned up clothed head to toe in black. Anyway I hope it goes as well as these things can. The offspring laying claim to the contents of the shed and house sounds a bit callous to say the least.
Right, time to getting myself moving ...."If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0
