Invoicing Query

As an aside this was arranged through a Ford dealership so they were aware of who I was, I was just not too impressed with the way I was spoken to. At no point had I said I wasn't willing to pay but was told if I was unable to pay they were keeping my car, slightly harsh and not very customer friendly. Any way, it's all paid, I have my car back and think I will go elsewhere in future due to way this situation was dealt with.0

Yeah you do that... that’ll teach those heartless people to ask for money for the work they did... some people eh?0

You will probably find that all dealerships expect you to pay before they release the vehicle. fI you find a ford dealership offering 28 days to pay please let us know because that would be very handy. As an aside this was arranged through a Ford dealership so they were aware of who I was, I was just not too impressed with the way I was spoken to. Did you get an invoice and 28 days to pay when you bought your car?0

Unless you hold a business account with the garage, as a company fleet manager might, then payment at the time of collecting the vehicle is absolutely normal and how every garage works.
You will be very unlikely to find anyone prepared to invoice you in the way you want, so if the garage have done a good job, there is no point falling out with them.0 -
Would you shop at Aldi because Tesco wouldn't let you leave without paying for your weekly shopping?
You got a part fitted, they have the right to demand payment for that part and the fitting service.
It baffles me that you think you're entitled to waltz off into the sunset and only pay for things as and when you feel like it.
I run a business, and used to offer payment after postage to my regular customers - you should see the hassle I had trying to squeeze money out of people.
Now it's pay up front, or nothing.

Unless agreed otherwise at the time of entering the contract, delivery & payment are concurrent conditions.
That means they should be performed at the same time. So when they delivered the car with the new goods fitted, you should have been ready & willing to pay the agreed price in full - unless you specifically agreed otherwise before you entered the contract.
Sorry but if you didn't ask at the time of entering the contract then I think you're being harsh as you're punishing them because you made an assumption that turned out to be incorrect. You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -

I'd love to know how exactly this conversation unfolded, I highly suspect that it wasn't quite as you portray.0
