I hope so - not just for your bank balance but for her well being as well

Funnily enough not long after I posted that last night my cocker started really scratching his ear.Ii had a look and yep a bit mucky, tipped in a pinch of thornit and he settled down within minutes and not a hint of scratching today.
If you little girl is often getting ear complaints it may be worth looking at her diet. Westies are renowned for skin problems as well, a lot of it is linked to diet. If you arent already it may be worth changing her over to a colour/additive free food
I changed him over to James' Well Beloved a few weeks back, he doesnt suffer with his skin at all, which surprised me as I was expecting the standard "westie skin".
But you will be pleased to know his ears are wonderful today!

It took four of us to clean one ear on our pup last night! One was sat on the sofa holding him in a bear hug; one holding up his ear & shining a torch; one on the floor actually doing the cleaning & me rolling up the 'new' cotton wool barrels & putting the used bits in a bag:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
Pup's an eight month old staff/english bull terrier cross, & to his credit kept remarkably well behaved. He must have realised that he had half the garden down his lug-hole & we were excavating it for him.:D
Do you advise Thornit on a regular basis, & if so how often? I would hate for him to have cancker.....
Thanks for your patience with a rookie owner; you will never know how much this forum has helped poor pup.:oFull time Carer for Mum; harassed mother of three;loving & loved by two 4-legged babies.

My cocker is done weekly, but then his ears are long and extremely hairy and are usually soaking wet so need a lot of care. For a short hair dog i would say do it as often as the ears need cleaning. Just make sure they are clean and dry then a wee sprinkle in and massage it down.
A tip for doing ears and grooming? Put the pup up high on your kitchen table (like the vets bench). use a rubber bath mat so he doesnt slip. When pups are put up high they wriggle less. Practice every day for a minute or two, put him up, get him to sit, treat, massage ears, treat, lift ears, treat - you get the idea and soon he will be happy to sit there for you to do his drops. Also a good idea to slightly open his eyes a bit each time, just in case you ever need to give eye drops0 -
Just came back from the vets, as Boris our staffie has a bad ear, he wont let you look at it at all, he really freaks out. Vet wanted to charge me £48 just in tablets for him. Took along a perscription form for her to sign, and managed to get the price down to £21.98 from vetuk.co.uk. Now i just hope the tablets will work.0

Thanks so much for the advice on Thornit. It arrived Saturday, & we did the deed yesterday. As said before, the effect is amazing! No more scratching, & today pup's ears are a lovely pink as opposed to the bright red they had become.
Again, thank you.Full time Carer for Mum; harassed mother of three;loving & loved by two 4-legged babies.
