This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning everyone
Nothing interesting happening here at the moment.
I’m just waiting for the summer and the warmer weather, and to get my treatment finished now. Then I hope that I feel well enough to go for days out to the coast and walks in the park and surrounding area like I did last summer. I feel like I just want peace, if that makes sense.
I was looking on a couple of web sites at voluntary opportunities to get an idea of what there is in the area. Since I had to give up volunteering at the CAB I did miss it and want to get back into doing something, hopefully I will be up to it with both my physical and mental health by September time. I need to feel like a useful member of society again and contribute something.
I’ve got a small turkey breast joint out to defrost for dinner, I know that there are some stuffing balls in the freezer and mashed potato so I will have that with some veg. There should be enough for tomorrow as well.
Redruby I hope that you are all feeling bit better today.
Gers I'm pleased that your mum is continuing to improve. It sounds like the move to this hospital has done her good. Don't forget to take care of yourself as well.
Gintot it is good that your OH is doing so well.
nannywindow I hope that the antibiotics start to work quickly and that the gum infection soon clears up. They are so painful.
Organza_lace hopefully your wrist feels a bit better this morning and that the benefit you get from it really helps with the pain.
Nelski scones for breakfast yesterday, sounded good to me.
silver-oldie I hope that things look a bit brighter today, and that you feel a bit better.
Have a good a day everyone.0 -
Good morning and thank you for starting us off Hollyharvey.
Today I look like a victim of domestic violence. I have an unexplained black eye - this has happened before, about 7 years ago. That time it was, apparently, a skin infection and I imagine this is the same. Last time, I was given antibiotics but I'll avoid those unless it just doesn't go as they do tend to make me ill in other ways and this doesn't hurt, though it is slightly itchy.
Sending good wishes to those who are unwell, sad or worried.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Morning folks and thanks HOLLY. Another mild day in store but no sign of any sun yet. Can't have everything!
The DGDs are still asleep so peace for another half hour till it's time to get them up. They are back again tonight after swimming, along with eldest DGD. Being Thursday I have their weekly "fix"to make for tea and will get the Bolognese on the go when DD's bf comes over to pick them up for school.
Aldi day today. DS is coming to take me but it will be a little later than usual as he wants to go to the barber first. I didn't do a SM shop last week, other than the few bits I got in Skipton M & S, so I have quite a big list for today. Still trying to get freezer stocks down so nothing needed for in there. It's looking less crammed after yesterday's tidy and it should be easier to find stuff.
AOD didn't someone else on here wake up with an unexplained black eye a month or two back? I can't remember who it was. Anyway hope it soon looks better. OL pleased you are feeling the benefit of the injection.
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for all who need them. Good to hear GERS' dm is perking up and that MR GINTOT is making a good recovery. Take care all xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Good morning, and thank you for starting off Holly. It's fine and quiet out there today, and 10 degrees whoo hoo.
Yesterday was a nice day as well. I went to see the nurse to have my ears syringed, but she couldn't extract anything, so it's back to oiling them again, and going back on Monday afternoon. I really hope it works this time - it's so frustrating being this deaf, and my hearing aids don't work against the hardened wax.
Holly, you probably want to have a fresh start after the last year or so, it has been a hard year for you. Maybe it's a feeling of getting the bad stuff over with, and starting again.
AOD, sorry you've got a black eye, hope it soon clears up. The thing is, people keep asking you what's happened and you get tired of explaining. Maybe carry a big notice if you go out to hold up and forestall questions.!! I'm avoiding going out because I'm stone deaf at the moment, and if I meet anyone I've got to explain, and I can't hear them and so on. It's a pain in the proverbial.
OL glad your hand is better. Your dream sounds lovely, but isn't it sad when you wake and realise that it was just a dream.

Thoughts to the sad and poorly and those struggling with life
Take care folks0 -
TA, I think it was Nelski who woke up with a black eye, she didn't know how it happened as far as I remember.0

Morning everyone
Hollyharvey - thanks for starting us off x
Hugs to those that want/need one, also those that are poorly or looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Cloudy start to the day, but dry underfoot and no rain forecast, so washing will get pegged on the line once the machine has finished. Got a line full dried yesterday too.
DH up and gone to work stupid early, DS1 also gone to work, I slept later than usual, so have now showered and just finished eating my porridge.
Dinner last night was roasted chicken portions, mash, LO cauli/broc cheese, LO yorkshires, carrots, peas and gravy - no waste. Not sure what we're having tonight - I'll sort that.
Work yesterday was quite quiet for a while and then went manic for a while - but I'm now on days' off until Saturday then back on Monday. I have the usual "to do" list today, so will be heading into town but a bit later as have an appointment late morning.
Keep safe and well x

Morning all
It was me with the mysterious black eye and yes AOD you will spend a couple of days with sympathetic looks and knowing nods when when you say you dont know how you got it. I would recommend dark glasses
Mum day today I need to leave early and stop off at Costco to get her a pack of kitchen towels Dont need anything myself so I will put my temptation blinkers on and try to escape without anything....guess theres a first for everything. I do need petrol so I guess thats my treat!
Last nights dinner was some pork steaks that I had marinaded in some chinese seasoning. Very tasty would do that again. Be out today for lunch so nothing freed from the freezer.
Have a lovely day all0
