Would you say, then, that the chances are that if I've removed the app and am running Malwarebytes, that unless I see anything suspicious on any accounts or emails or banking etc, that it's probably fine to carry on using my phone as is? TBH, I'm less concerned about them calling a premium line using my SIM or anything, I'd be more concerned that someone's watching me through the camera!!! :D

I literally have no idea what sandboxes or roots are - unless I'm in the garden.

"Sandbox" in this case means a protected area (like DoaM said) where the app can run without interfering with others.

"Root" in this case refers to giving your login the maximum set of permissions (it's like "God mode", but for your phone) so you can do anything to the phone, Android and/or apps on it - it's meant to allow you to do some maintenance stuff that isn't available normally, but can be misused.

    As above.

And to answer your next possible question - No, when an app is installed it can't suddenly get root access by itself; there's a quite-techy process to follow to root an Android device. So you've got no reason for concern on that front. :)
