Well thanks for that 'useful information' lets hope the scammers take it on board and if not maybe you can help people with defending a Court claim, you know doing the AOS, writing a defence, writing a WS, preparing a skeleton argument and putting together a costs schedule!!
Unfortunately this is parking scammers we are talking about, never I repeat NEVER underestimate what they will do, just because there signage 'appears' to be incorrect that wont stop them taking people to Court should they choose to and if/when they do take people to Court the majority 'just pay up' some don't defend and end up with a default CCJ and a tiny percentage find this forum and beat them but be under no illusion it takes a lot of time and effort to defend in Court against these scammers.
So whilst I fully agree with your sentiment, its risky telling people 'don't pay' if only it were that simple.0 -
Yes, but it is simple with Smart.
The OP should be telling people how to cancel it with one appeal email - as per the NEWBIES thread.
No need to enter into any longer comms, Smart fold when they see the forum appeal.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Well yes I agree and have read about Smart caving in like our Government over Brexit (ooh did I just say that
) but lets hope any newbie seeing that post doesn't think they are all that soft.

Two bits of advice about SMART
1: Don't ignore the scammers, they are easily beaten
2: Tell everyone you know and then pass it on
BOYCOTT Cardiff Gate Retail Park .... until the management wakes up and like other companies ... kick out Smart into the long grass.
No harm in writing to the CEO's of those on the retail park saying that you will not be shopping with them in future because of Smart Parking and suggesting that the landowner dramatically reduces their rent until they sack Smart Parking0 -
I have just received a PCN for going over the 4Hr limit ( in Costa all that time on business meetings). Had no idea whatsoever that this was a restriction nor that I was on private land. I googled the entrance afterwards and as `The RossSays` above the signage is behind a huge Retail sign thus blocking it when making my left hand turn into the site. I was more aware of the traffic emerging to my right at the site entrance than a sign I did not even see to my left up a pole. Did not see any signage whatsoever as I parked in front of Costa. HOW DO I FIGHT THIS EXTORTION ?0

HOW DO I FIGHT THIS EXTORTION ?
What did Costa say when you complained to them? Do they offer their premises for four hours of meetings? Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

I have just been issued with a parking notice at Cardiff Gate Retail Park. Although I would love to contend it, there are signs around the site stating that the maximum parking period is 4 hours. I agree that the first sign is partially hidden behind a large pillar advertising all the stores on the retail park, but the others are plain to see (although I guess I didn't notice any of them). I guess that I will have to pay the fine to SMART Parking......but reluctantly!0

ben-vendetta, you need to start your own thread to avoid confusion.
Meanwhile, you must have missed one of the most important messages in this thread - that Smart Parking are EASY TO BEAT at the first appeal stage. Check out the Newbie's thread for template.3 -
I guess that I will have to pay the fine to SMART Parking......but reluctantly! What on EARTH made you conclude that? No-one pays Smart and I said they are easy to beat with a single appeal.
