Switching from a dual-fuel supplier to separate Gas&Leccy suppliers.

I’ve switched energy supply company on numerous occasions but I’ve always gone from a dual-fuel tariff to a new dual-fuel tariff;...I fully understand the switching process and I’ve never experienced any issues.
However, for the first time I’m actively considering switching to separate gas & leccy energy suppliers;...I’ve looked at this option a number of times in the past but it’s never been financially prudent for me switch from dual-fuel to separate suppliers,...until recently.
Once I’ve signed-up with the separate gas and leccy suppliers I will, at some point, receive a switch-over date from both of them;...however, I assume (perhaps wrongly!) that the dates will be different;...one date for gas switch-over and a different date for the leccy switch-over.
How will the ‘losing’ (dual-fuel) supplier handle the separate switch dates/procedures?...is it likely to cause problems with administration etc?... Anyone had any experience of this process?
I’m rather hoping??? it’s the ‘losing’ supplier that controls the switch-over date,... in which case I assume the two switches will occur simultaneously.

From my experience, of switching from a Dual-Fuel tariff to seperate suppliers, it is the gaining new suppliers that control the switch date.
The losing supplier will just bill you to the different dates of the switchovers for gas & electric. If you do a switch during the end of contract period, you should be charged at the contract fixed rates until the switches complete.
You may lose any dual fuel discount for the very short period of a difference between switch dates.0 -
The gaining suppliers control the switchover dates and looking at most of the posts on this subject it appears that leccy switches tend to be a week or so faster than gas.
You'll probably get individual final bills for gas and leccy so as said above you might lose some or all of your dual fuel discount depending on which the switch occurs.Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0 -
In reality suppliers treat ( what is in theory) - dual fuel as two completely separate accounts.
No problems in switching from dual to two suppliers.Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0 -
:T Many thanks for the prompt/informative replies;...much appreciated.0
