Newbuild Damage by developers

Hi, we moved into our new-build property last week. Our road is one of the main routes for construction traffic between their 'hub' and the current properties under construction.
Yesterday when I came home from work I noticed that one of their vehicles (I assume as nobody else really drives down there) has driven over the grass verge outside our house. This is not my land, it's part of what will be public land. between the footpath and the road but happens to be directly outside my house.

I called them to ask for someone to come and fix it and they said they'll send a groundsman to have a look but didn't seem particularly interested and didn't even ask for the address (I had to give it to him before he hung up).

My question is, who is actually responsible for this? I know I am not but I still don't want this chewed up ruined grass outside my nice new home :( Hopefully they do fix it but the guy on the phone didn't fill me with confidence. It has not been handed over to the council yet and will not be for a while yet so I assume it is under the developers jurisdiction still.

I know it's not the most urgent or important issue but this is our first home we own and everything is perfect and this has ruined the appearance from the front :(

There'll be stuff like this ongoing until they complete the development. That's what you have to put up with if you choose to move into a building site. If the verge is going to be adopted then it's up to the developers to put it into a suitable state for the council to take over.

It will be part of reinstatement, and should be checked before formal hand over to the coun cil or who ever in your area is responsible for the maintenance.

Somebody drove over the grass verge outside your house, not even on your land...

Get used to it. It happens.

Grass grows back. It's nearly spring, and warming up rapidly. It will grow back quickly.

If you're worried about the earth being compacted, give it a quick dig-over, but it'll be fine very quickly.
