  • I got my ski jacket at the Mambo Factory store in Putney - £29 and its great (warm, dry etc).

I also managed to get some Helly Hanson Ski pants in their factory store in McArthur Glen Bridgend for a similar price.
  • I found a good site this week whilst looking for walking gear. My daughter is going on a ski trip in April so I will probably get her stuff on this site. www.outdoormania.co.uk The walking gear arrived within 2 days so my experience is a positive one.

I never seem to be lucky on my visits to TKMaxx when I go with something in mind so if you are like me check out this website. They have this cheap package for kids on their website which I have cut and pasted. It is the jacket, trousers and base layer too which I thought was a really good deal!Children' Trespass Cariboo Ski Set with Baselayers
    RRP £ 107.99 their price £52.99!!
New for 2008, this is one of the best deals we have this year. The Cariboo comes in four boy and girl colour schemes, looks fantastic and is ultra-warm too! Thanks to huge bulk buying, offered at a bargain introductory price and comes complete with full baselayer set

Bicester Shopping Village has some outlet stores - Helly Hanson, TOG24 both of which sell discounted skiwear.

Snowboots can be bought relatively cheaply from Fran Cotton for about £39.99 which is better than £70! Or she could try the Snow & Rock Shop.

:o Just been onto Mandm Direct - they have a limited range of skiwear for adults and children - all at about half price, and some nice fleeces for underneath. There is a valid 5 pounds off 60 code on the discount codes thread, too. :T

What I am having trouble finding, though, are walking/snow boots for my seven-year old. Any suggestions?

Hubby bought a ski helmet from Lidl £7.99! It's a lovely piece of kit comparable in quality to much more expensive ones.

Edit : Just seen Aldi have ski gear next Thurs - now theirs is really good stuff,my daughter did years of skiing in their kids stuff before she got too big.

I've seen ones that should fit 7yr old in Tog24 they look quite nice, lots of colours - not sure of price tho

Has anyone seen any proper snow stuff for little 'uns?
We're going to Austria in Feb , My son will be 13 months and I can't find Thermals especially socks, waterproof bottoms and good shoes I've only seen boots small enough in Clarks - (Very expensive for a 1 week trip!) he'll be around a size 4 when we go

I've no idea where you live but I've seen alot of ski stuff for kids in Trespass at Freeport Braintree (Essex). There's also Regatta and Mountain Warehouse shops there too. The stock is much cheaper than you'd see on the high street or on the web.

There's also a Trespass store at Freeport Fleetwood (Lancashire) and likely elsewhere in the country.

    Good luck!

For women with fairly small hands I suggest trying kids gloves in e.g. Blacks or Millets. I got my ski gloves for half the price of adults gloves and they fit beautifully!

  • Hi my son went skiing with the school in february and my parents bought the complete set for my son for only £120 from the site DARE2BE. My father spent alot of time on the net searching for the best site and this was the one he went back to. We had the thermal socks from Soccer Sports.

No idea what the kit is like as I'm not a skier, but I did buy some handwarmers off them and they were very quick delivering

good point, I'm quite small (5' 3" size 8/10) and got a bargin in O neill a couple of years ago I had 25% off voucher from a mag and bought "girls" jacket and gloves, saved about £100 off cost of adult stuff without voucher
and all before I discovered MSE!!

A good tip in general for all smallish people is check out Kids dept (one of the only benefits of our kids growing up too fast is trendy clothes on the cheap)
