Premier Parking - friend received a ticket when parking as a guest without a permit

My mother has just died. I am trying to clear her flat, which is in a sheltered housing development with a managed car park. I have a friend helping me, but my mother only had the one permit, which is living in my car at the moment, and so my friend is the one who has the parking ticket but, of course, I am morally responsible. How can we word the dispute? She had a note in her car saying which flat she was in but I don't suppose that matters to the blood-suckers.

Although, if it is thought that there is no point, obviously I will be the one paying.

I'm really sorry to hear about your mum. What a rough time :(

Who is the parking company that have ticketed your friend?

Oh, hang on, I put Premier Parking in the thread title but they're actually called Premier Park!

Very sorry to hear of your loss.

Have you considered complaining to the management of the sheltered housing? Explain the circumstances and strongly request that they cancel the PCN.

Thank-you, both, btw, for your thoughts.

I have phoned the managing company and been told it's nothing to do with them! This was, however, just someone in customer service and I don't expect them to know much. But the manager of the building said that she couldn't really help either:( She did tell me to ignore them and they would probably go away. Judging by the numerous threads here, I'm hoping that's the case, but I could really do with advice on how to word the dispute for my friend, as she feels very uncomfortable just ignoring.

That is an important difference. One is worth going through the further appeal stages, the other is not. Good news is that you have the right one!

So, a strongly worded complaint to the email of the sheltered housing will definitely help. Polite, but firm. A complaint to your MP would also be worth it.

However, in the meantime, your friend needs to check out post #1 of the NEWBIES thread. They will send a letter soon, and your friend will need to submit the template appeal (in blue text) around Day 27 from the parking date.

Don't worry if they reject the appeal - that really isn't indicative of how valid their case is. What they will do, is give you a POPLA code, and this is your friend's chance to get the claim squashed.

I've checked the Newbies sticky thread and I wasn't sure about some of the wording, as it's not a pay and display or anything like that. So how would we alter it for these circumstances?

    Thanks for all this!

That's okay - don't edit it. The point is to get a POPLA code if they don't cancel it. Just send it as it is :)
