Buying an Ironing Board!?

Hi
I am thinking of finally getting an ironing board and have already looked around on Amazon. I was surprised to see that there are boards in so many different sizes, shapes and above all in different price ranges.
I have no idea why can you tell me what an ironing board must have and it would be great if it doesn't cost too much?

You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time but you can never please all of the people all of the time0 -

Having a flat surface tends to help I find
Although that being said you could just use the dining room table and have an extra challenge of trying not to leave burn marks behind0 -
My perfect ironing board would come with someone to do the ironing. :rotfl:
(Correct me if I'm wrong, but what's 'Techie' about an ironing board?I can't imagine a life without cheese. (Nigel Slater)0 -
My mum did a lot of dressmaking and found a standard board was too small so she used the dining table, with a thick wad of material to protect the surface.0

I don't know, they look much more advanced then when I first got one.
Maybe the OP wold have been better checking out a Which guide or something. https://www.which.co.uk/reviews/steam-irons/article/how-to-choose-the-best-ironing-board0 -
I take it that you don't do a lot of ironing at the moment? In which case, don't overthink it, just look for a reasonably priced simple one. The absolutely cheapest ones are likely to be too light and flimsy, so I'd go a bit better than that. Unless you need it to be delivered, there is no need to go to Amazon - why not go to a supermarket/diy shop and have a look at the ones there.0

If the OP is struggling to select an ironing board then deciding which iron to buy will blow his or her mind.
OP - go to your local Wilko's, wander to the aisle where the ironing boards are and buy the first one you see.0
