Morning..
I've recently bought a new PC which is running on Vista, I'm wanting to partition the drive to create seperate 'safe' partitions for my music etc.
I would normally use Partition magic but it's not compatible with Vista.
Is there another kind of software that does the same thing that is user friendly?
Thanks..
Scott

I would have used my own initiative if someone would have told me to!

ive never understood why people would partition a drive. even if you partition the drive its still the same drive, just part of it is given a different drive letter.
I would recomend buying an external hard drive for your music or just get another drive and install it to your new pc.0 -
I'm not too sure you can have anything "safe" on a machine crippled with Vista, you'd be better off wiping the harddrive & upgrading to XP.Winnings

Generally if a drive gets corrupt it's the C:\ drive, this way all my files will be saved on other parts so should I need to format I'd only have to format C:\ leaving my other partitions safe.I would have used my own initiative if someone would have told me to!0 -

I thought I'd give Vista a go, get used to it before everyone makes the swap over.
Don't worry though I still have my old XP machine if needs be

Vista is fine. You may even find you like it! :eek:It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die0 -

I've been using it for a couple of days now and to be honest I am liking it..
Not had any real problems just one or two programs that aren't compatible yet.
At this rate i won't be going back to XP
It seems to me that the people that have most to moan about it haven't actually given it a chance.I would have used my own initiative if someone would have told me to!0 -
I dual booted XP & Vista for a while but after not firing it up for 2 months I scrapped it & stuck with XP, Vista looks nice but I just don't want all the extra security rubbish Microsoft put in to "protect" me.Winnings

Hi greensprout , just a suggestion, which I've only recently learned, is to make an image of the installed o.s with the necessary progs installed. I used acronis but I think there are free progs. The image is put on the other partition and the whole lot can be re-installed in 5 MINS. -far easier than fresh install. Acronis actually compresses the image and it may well be only 2 gb.0
