Business owner not helping and parking company asking for driver

Hi, Newbie here with a couple of queries.

Got a PCN for "not parking in designated bay" at a retail park whilst visiting a local business (car parked at side of road - no yellow lines, not blocking road or pavement and signs out of view of car window).

Anyway business owner very unhelpful, refuses even to forward template email to parking company to ask for ticket to be cancelled (I will never use their business again!)
Question 1: has anyone ever had any luck appealing directly to the retail park owners rather than their tenants? Tracking down their contact details is proving tricky though...

Question 2: I sent a template letter as instructed in Newbie thread along with receipt showing driver was a customer. Now parking company is asking for driver details within 7 days in order to proceed with appeal . I have every intention of ignoring this, but wanted to know if I should do anything else at this stage? Letter says POPLA verification code will come at next stage..

Many thanks,

If the business has a Facebook page write bad stuff on it, consider doing the same on Trust Pilot. Make life difficult for the business.

    Is the PCN issuer UKPC?

by retail park, as businesses owner do you mean the owner is a businesses on the retail park, or the owner of the retail park?
    From the Plain Language Commission:

"The BPA has surely become one of the most socially dangerous organisations in the UK"
  • Yes it's UKPC. The driver is of the opinion they create ambiguous parking situations to generate cash.
  • Driver was customer of one of the tenants, an unhelpful company on the retail park. Was hoping to go to the top; I.e. The landlords/owners of the whole site. However suspect they are large faceless corporation that doesn't care.
  • no the buisness owner was fed up of cars blocking the roadway and gave UKPC permission to penalize people

in doing so he has not gained anything , just CEL getting £60-100 , this will not stop people parking

but by hiring them he has now lost your future business

FOOL , he should have had lines painted and signs saying do not block roadway , but I reckon UKPC talked him out of this

They all do, it's not the exclusive domain of UKPC.

Have you read the NEWBIES FAQ sticky, post #1, because that will bring you up to speed with the questions you ask and will tell you how to deal with this.

In addition do a forum search using keywords UKPC driver request and you will read how this is a predictable and frequently used part of their process. The posts will also explain how to deal with it.

Sorry, but it's physically impossible to type out the same thing so many times a day. The forum is awash with the best advice on how to deal with private parking charges anywhere online - the key to individual success is to research and read the appropriate threads and posts.

HOW TO USE THE FORUM SEARCH FUNCTION:

Hit your 'Back' button to get back to the forum thread list. On the bar just above the threads you'll see the 'Search' function. Click on the 'Advanced Search' button and on the following page place your keyword(s) in the 'Search By Keyword(s)' and make sure the 'Show Results As' button (at the foot of the window) is changed from 'Threads' to 'Posts'.
Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

Go to the top. I had the same thoughts as you when complaining to a large land management company yet they were approachable and ultimately cancelled the PCN.

Store managers or even shop floor staff at the retail park will know who the land management company is. And if you google the retail park, there may well be some leads to follow too. Which retail park is it?
