No response from First Direct

I've been attempting to claim back PPI payments from First Direct from the Resolver tool but so far have had no response from them since January 17th when I put the complaint in

As it's now gone past 8 weeks with no response, should I escalate to the Financial Ombudsman, or persist in trying to get First Direct to respond?

    Rather than use Resolver, who have probably just list your complaint, why not just send it direct?
  • I just thought it was the way of doing it - do you mean they won't have sent my complaint on to First Direct?

    Resolver is a commercial tool for submitting complaints but it is not foolproof. It actually adds a layer to your complaint (so an extra failure layer).

    Conventional ways to complain are to go direct to lender via phone, letter or their website.

    Regrettably resolver uses a number of incorrect email addresses to forward your complaint... to my knowledge they have been advised this many times, but chose not to do anything about it - as already stated it is merely there to harvest and sell your data.

    Make the complaint direct using the firstdirects direct email which can be found on FCA website.

    I’ve banked with First Direct for years and recently raised a complaint via Resolver. They simply won’t use it and refuse to answer your complaint via this tool citing DP issues. No point arguing with them IMHO. There’s a PPI form on their website and they responded to me via this medium within a week.
    DFW. LBM £46,490 on 23/2/17.
    £43,468 as at 15/1/19

    Determined to clear the debt and grateful for any advice and support along the way.
