Parking on university premises

My husband's car broke down yesterday. So he would not miss his first meeting he took my car. Inadvertently, he forgot to take the permit that he pays for out of his car and put it on the windscreen of my car. When he got to work he left a note on the car windscreen in the university car park explaining the situation and giving full details of the reason, his name and department and the colour, make and registration of the car that is registered with the university. When he finished work and got back to the car he found he had been given a ticket/fine. This seems grossly unfair and downright disloyal to established members of staff whose details the university have on record. Any advice regarding the appeal would be much appreciated

Of course it is, and, if they took this to court, I am sure that a judge would agree with you. In the meantime, complain like the fat friar to your MP. All the information you need to appeal is in the stickies, please read them.
This is an entirely unregulated industry which is scamming the public with inflated claims for minor breaches of alleged contracts for alleged parking offences, aided and abetted by a handful of low-rent solicitors. Is has been suggested by an MP that some of these companies may have connections to organised crime.
Parking Eye, CPM, Smart, (especially Smart}, and others have already been named and shamed in the House of Commons as have Gladstones Solicitors, and BW Legal, (these two law firms take hundreds of these cases to court each week), hospital car parks and residential complex tickets have been especially mentioned. They lose most of them, and have been reported to the regulatory authority by an M.P. for unprofessional conduct
The problem become so widespread that MPs agreed to enact a Bill to regulate these scammers. It received The Royal Assent today. You never know how far you can go until you go too far.0 -

Which parking company is involved, as knowing that detail will help us direct you more precisely if this drags on.Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.
