Buyer Demands Partial refund

Can anyone help me with a Ebay sale which has turned into a Nightmare .
I sold a guitar on ebay but after 3 weeks was contacted through through a Ebay dispute centre that it was faulty and the buyer wanted a partial refund for a repair.
He submitted photographs of the item ( he had attempted a repair on the electrics) and wanted £43 to go towards the repair.
Ebay closed the case in my favour as the buyer had modified the item without asking me .
I thought that was the end of them matter but the next day he opened a case with Paypal .
This time saying that he purchased the item on behalf a client who found it to be faulty so HE issued £43 to have it repaired which he now expects me to pay .
My concern is that he says he has opened a case with his Credit card company as well as Paypal so do not know legally where I stand.
It not so much the money but the fact that it has all been taken out of my hands and being told that I should pay for a repair I did not know was needed or agree to .
Any help would be much appreciated.

Can anyone hele me with a Ebay sale which has turned into a Nightmare .
I sold an item on ebay , after 3 weeks the I was contacted through ebay that it was faulty and the buyer wanted a partial refund for a repair.
He submitted photographs of the item in bits and stating that he wanted £43 as a partial refund for a repair .
I pointed out to Ebay that I was not given an opportunity to have the item returned and as he had dismantled the item without my permission ( it was a guitar ) Ebay sided with me and closed the case , he left negative feedback within minutes .
I thought that was the end of them matter but the next day he opened a case with Paypal stating the same thing but this time saying that he purchased the item on behalf a client who found the item to be faulty so he issued £44 to have it repaired which he now expects me to pay .
My question is that he says that he originally paid for the item by a credit card and submitted a claim with them as well as Paypal which is where my concern lies . Legally where do I stand ?
I was not given a change to accept the return which I would have accepted which I cannot now as he had taken the pickups apart and teh electrics . I don’t like giving partial refunds as I feel sometimes buyers use it to haggle the price down after a sale , I would rather take the hit on the postage .
Stress is somtihng I do not really need at the moment , it not so much the money but the fact that it has all been taken out of my hands and being told that I should pay for a repair I did not know was needed or agreed to .
Any help would be much appreciated.

surely you tell paypal exactly what you told ebay, including any references. The questions that get the best answers are the questions that give most detail....0

Add into the fact the buyer is a business and bought it for a client, but broke it trying to modify it to the clients specification.
Failed on ebay to reclaim their money and using paypal as a warranty service even though they broke the item by trying to modify it.
If they open a not received you just need proof of posting.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

The advice differs depending on what case has actually been opened in PayPal. OP is it a SNAD or a chargeback for fraudulent use of a card?I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
