joint tenancy

Hi, I have been living with my partner for just over a year in a rented housing association property. Before moving in with my partner I lived alone in a different housing association property but I was evicted as I was in so much debt and arrears. My partner does not work, I work full time and I pay the rent without fail every week. My partner would like to add me on the tenancy so that it becomes a joint one as we are planning to get married in the near future, but I'm worried that because I've previously been evicted we will be turned down for a joint tenancy.
Does anyone have some advice please?
Thanks in advance :)

Depending on the HA they may or may not reference check you.

However they aren't stupid and most applications will now ask if you have ever been evicted. You lie you comit fraud to obtain social housing.

Have you cleared the debt you owe your previous HA?

If not I would suggest you have next to no chance of being allowed on the tenancy.

If you can evidence you have cleared all your arrears and costs etc they may have show some leniency.

Why do you need to go on her tenancy? They may have a 1 change rule which would mean not coming off it at a later date which would be a risk to her.

    Thanks for your reply,
I am still in debt with my previous housing association and have a payment plan in place which I am paying each week without fail.

Does it matter if they turn you down, you just end up where you are now

I question why your partner wants you on a tenancy agreement, when the arrangement you have made between yourselves seems to be working.
    I am a LandLord,(under review) so there!:p
