Hi, Please can I have some advice? I was bankrupt in November 1995 and now discharged. Can I make a claim for PPI for the dates after this? I'm getting conflicting advice as in it should be done by the Official Receiver only OR they aren't interested in any monies after the discharge date. Thanks.

Yes. It is only premiums paid prior to bankruptcy that you cant.OR they aren't interested in any monies after the discharge date. Thanks.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). You can complain (not claim) about any PPI sold at any point after your bankruptcy, so long as someone has records (either you or the lender)Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

Hi, I'm sorry to repeat the same question, however I'm looking for a little clarification as I think Capital One are screwing me around and I'm confused.
My husband was declared Bankrupt in April 2004. He was discharged from bankruptcy in November 2004.
Fast forward to 2007 when we moved in together and got a joint Capital One credit card, which had PPI on it.
In 2010 we paid off the CC before we moved to Canada.
I am now going through the exercise of reclaiming our PPI from this CC and mortgage in the UK. However Capital One are claiming that we are not entitled to the PPI from the CC as there is an insolvency trustee.
However they confirm that the CC and PPI were mis-sold in 2007, which is after the discharge.
Am I right to believe that they should repay to us it as it was not a part of the 2004 insolvency nor were they on the list of debtors when he filed for bankruptcy?0 -
Only pre-bankruptcy PPI is classed as an asset belonging to the Official Receiver.0

Thank you Moneyineptitude!
I'll keep pursuing them for this case. The other piece is that it was a joint account and I have never been bankrupt so when they said I couldn't claim anything back I wanted to scream!0 -

He didn't have a massive amount of debt but had to declare to get his feet back under him when the company he worked for at the time went under.
He landed an awesome job just after discharge and we saved a great down payment for our first home, his credit was deemed good enough I guess. It was 3 years before he even applied or attempted to get any form of credit.
We only had the mortgage and one joint CC as he never wanted to get into that situation again if anything changed but both had PPI attached. I wasn't even aware until my parents claimed theirs back and suggested I look into it for us.0 -
Just to point out... credit cards were not ‘joint’ one of you may have been an additional card holder but this does not make it joint lending - as such only the principal account holder is eligible to complain.0
