Claim for cash refund following multiple failed delivery promises?

ordered a sofa from a popup shop and we have now paid the balance on top of the earlier deposit. We have had multiple promises for delivery and they keep changing the date. Enough is enough - we have asked for a refund but they have said credit note only. Can this be right? Can we push for a cash refund? Thanks.

What do the terms and conditions say? How long ago did you place the order and what to the terms say about cancellation rights?0

And did you pay by cash?0

balance paid in Feb2019 - debit card. Have sent letter to vendor as suggested by MSE quoting time is of the essence so hopefully will get successful delivery in next couple of weeks. Thanks for feedback.0

So it should be a refund on the card.0

If you want to cancel then you're well within your rights to do so, unless they are custom making your sofas. They can't give you a credit note and refuse a refund as they have not yet delivered on their side of the contract so you can cancel at any time. If you paid by Debit Card you can use the chargeback scheme and get your money back.0
