Advice needed please.

Good morning.

Three weeks ago we purchased a complete Bathroom suite from a small business locally. We also purchased the tiles from them.

The plumber has finished installing the shower tray and I have tiled around that area. I came to tile where the new sink unit will be located and found that the next box of tiles, which had been stacked in the spare room, had all the corners broken. The company delivered them three weeks ago and the boxes have remained where they were placed by the people from the shop that delivered them. I contacted the shop who said they can't accept them back but did say "you will need cuts so they will be useful". I'm a box short to complete this job and they refuse to take them back. What are my rights. I have spent over £2500 on this suite.
Kind regards Jeff.

You can't prove it unfortunately, I'd be pushing them for some goodwill as you've spent all that money.Maybe get the plumber to speak to them trade to trade?
    Probably you should have checked.
  • Each box is a heavy weight with the tiles 60x30 cm. The cost was £29 per square Mtr. They stacked the boxes on top of each other and this box was the fifth one down. Agreed they have been there three weeks but to open each one and check them would have left the tiles open to possible damage even more.
I will just have to accept my loss and buy more. If I could find where they got them from I'd go direct there instead of giving this business more money.
    Kind regards Jeff.
  • When I got my bathrooms done, I let my installer get the tiles etc. It is easier for him to change items than me storing them for a period of time. In the end, he had to change the bathroom mirror three times because it was damaged.
