Bottled beers and Alcopops

It was certainly normal when I was at university about four years back.

Most of my friends and I didn't do it that much because we mainly drank draught cider etc (and alcopops etc give me a horrendous headache, cost a fortune and taste awful).

However, my ex-housemate and ex-boyfriend freaked out on separate occasions about my not drinking from bottles that I could put my thumb over when we were out clubbing, and I seem to remember the Students' Union staff advising that we drink from bottles that we could cover to avoid spiking. My ex-housemate/ex-bf both go out to more normal trendy clubs than I do (I'm more of a goth/rock type) and I think it may be rather more standard in the poppier places.

I went out to some trendy nights and I think it may be that people didn't look out for each other as much in those clubs as there isn't quite as much of a sense of community as there was in the rock places, so it may be that there's more paranoia about strangers in the trendy places. At least, that's my speculative analysis of it all.
