Storage Heaters vs 9-5 job
I'm moving soon to a flat which seems to be economy 7 and storage heaters
I work a 9-5 job and its up to 1 hour commute
With that in mind I'm worried that I will get no benefit for storage heaters- that they will just heat the house when I'm out.
So could do with opinions on the follow ideas
1. Buy some electric oil radiators, switch to a standard tariff and only use in the evening
2. Use storage heaters on economy 7 and hope for the best
3. Use storage heaters but see if I can get economy 10. I'm concerned that might make it difficult to switch. But also wondering; If I do have the 12-5am/1-4pm/8-10pm economy 10 tarrif, can I charge the storage heaters only in the afternoon/evening slots so I have heat in the evening instead? Or do they need a full 7 hours
4. Become a white walker and embrace the cold

First of all try using the storage heaters to see how they work out.
Learn how to use the controls so they don't give all their heat out when you aren't there.
Any other alternative will cost you money - initially to buy ordinary heaters and then to run them on peak rate electricity which is a lot more expensive than off peak..
E10 might be an option if you can get it, however it's frequently more expensive than E7 and not many suppliers offer it anymore.
In a few weeks you wont need much heating anyway as spring is just around the corner so your best course of action is to see how you go before spending lots of money.Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0
