Valuation and cost of a New York stone roof

Hi does anyone know the cost I might be looking at to replace a large detached house large gabled roof entirely? The house I love is an old farmhouse with a couple of dips, a few slates missing and the top ridge completely bartered. Any idea of a ball park cost. Clearly he could you the 98% of tiles that are ok again. Thanks . Realise it’s very rough guide!

You need to get a proper survey done. It could be that the timbers were designed for a light slate roof and someone decided to put heavier york stone on it without strengthening it. This would be why there are dips.

I was about to tell you to get back to your own country, then realised you were probably talking about a new York stone roof, rather than a New York stone roof.

Too many unknowns. Whereas the cost of 're roofing in slate could be upwards of £10k, York stone and or new or reinforced timbers could start increasi g that by factors of 2, 3, 4 or more.

And if you have to ship the stone to Alabama that too will increase costs you W?
