Voluntary Termination - signing forms

I have sent my letter to ford credit to voluntary terminate my credit agreement with them. I used my own letter and not the letter sent from ford credit.

I have been reading not to sign anything from ford credit or their agent who is collecting the car. The details letter sent from ford credit tells me about excess milage which i am aware i dont have to pay and ive seen the template ltters available to send if they ask for it.

Now it says the agent will complete an appraisal of the car and its milage and then says, “the appraisal form must be signed by you or your representative and our agent. You or your representative will receive a copy as the receipt for the collection and any amounts paid”
Do i actually have to sign this? And if i refuse what will the agent then do?

The letter also states i owe £69.89 for payment of the use of the vehicle sign my last monthly installment and the date they got the letter. I guess i have to pay this amount? Dont mind paying this but im not paying the 5000 extra miles ive went over at £0.06 per mile.

Any help on this folks?

£300 or the hassle with debt collectors and/or potentially going to court, I'm guessing you will ;)

You would have to have an argument in court stronger than that of the Ombudsman who ruled in the finance house's favour. All that risk for £300?

Do you feel lucky? The costs of losing would make the £300 look like chicken feed.

It'll end up in county court if you don't pay. At least one ombudsman has upheld a finance company's claim, the ombudsman stating that exceeding the mileage wasn't looking after the vehicle in accordance with the PCP terms.

  • Thanks for the replies. It was less about the money and more a hatred towards Ford, didnt want to give them something if i didnt have to. Ill pay the excess just to get away from them. Thanks all.
