I have to admit I just don't get this trend towards bigger/taller family cars seemingly for the hell of it.

    But onto topic...

If you want (and can justify financially) a new car then it's definitely something to factor in with brands like Kia offering such long warranties, but make sure you can afford to have them serviced on time (otherwise it'll be invalidated).

You definitely don't need one to accommodate a baby, or even two.

If you just want one then that is fine.

My Fiesta is more than fine to be honest. However, if we do get a new car I would like one that is higher up. Much easier for me putting the child in and much easier for me to get in to. I am very much aware it is a first world problem. With that said, with the Fiesta we will struggle to take a pram and shopping in one trip.

Difficulty getting in and out of our previous Peugeot 308 SW (estate) was the only reason we switched to a Nissan Qashqai plus we changed from a Diesel to petrol as we only do short journeys.

We changed to an upright vehicle for the same reason. That & they are easier to find in a car park.
