Credit score when returning to the UK

Options
Can anyone advise if there is a way to boost our credit score upon returning to the UK after being in France for 13 years? We have been back on the electoral roll since December 2018 after purchasing our home in Scotland. We have recently been declined credit for a sim card only contract of £5 a month. We had excellent credit ratings when we left the UK.

Credit scores aren't used in the UK.

You'll need to build up a credit history through getting in the ER, sensible use of a credit card and other credit.

    Time is the key ingredient.

Forget about the score. Establish a credit history.
If you are homeowners presumably you have utility bills, bank accounts etc? Are none of these reported to CRA's?
Have you actually checked to see if your credit files have been updated to show your accounts yet if you have only been back in the UK for a very short period of time?
Very surprised at you being declined for SIM only contract but possibly your electoral roll information has not yet updated and you could not be verified.

Getting on the electoral roll is a good start. Although you have registered, it may still not have updated with the CRA's yet?

As you have been away for so long you probably dont have a credit file so, in essence you are starting from scratch.

Give it a few months. If you have a long standing with your bank try and approach them for a credit card. Use it each month and pay it off to start building your history.

Once everything starts falling into place thing will get easier but it will just take time.
