Bad Joining Experience - needs sorting

Sorry if this sounds negative for a new user, but this is the very time to comment on the joining procedure.
Using Firefox 60.4 (pretty new) on Linux Devuan, the "Login" and "Join" buttons were completely inert. I booted an old copy of WinXP with goodness how old a browser and they then worked. I have built websites and know that a button can and should be using standard HTML code, as on 99% of other sites. I guess some intern of yours wanted to show off with some fancy scripting instead. I thought the bad old days of having to use Microsoft stuff were over.
Next problem, it rejected a proxy email address that I would use to turn any spam off like a tap if it were to start. Every other forum I use accepts a proxy address. So instead I gave a Yahoo Mail address that I never look at except on rare occasions like this - so MSE's loss, not mine. There is no way I give out my real email address to anyone these days.
I noticed I could have joined via Facebook (if I had a FB account). What a joke - this site has "expert" in its name yet we are invited to discuss our finances via an organisation infamous for privacy breaches and now under a new criminal investigation! (Google it - I'm not allowed to link).
Having managed to join I returned to FF on Linux, and the "Login" button still does not work; but a "New Thread" button did cause a log-in window to appear; Different intern? - sack the other one. However, typing in a comment and clicking "Preview" caused the comment to vanish and I was told off for not having typed in a long-enough comment! Another point is that there is no "Logout" button visible at all so I guess I'm logged in for ever :rotfl:. Again it works in an old Windows copy - a security sieve, and that's how I'm posting now, probably for the last time.
This website has some serious technical issues, and looks like I am not alone in pointing it out
