2 defaults for the same debt?

Just checked my husbands report and found one debt but with two defaults recorded.
The original account defaulted in February 2018, and was then sold on.
It appears again, under a different debt collection agency, with a default, stating the account was opened in April 2018. I believe this was when it changed ownership.
Should it be showing twice?

Yes it should also show the original default date as February 2018 on the new account as well0

Theres two months difference. I'm just concerned that its showing two defaults when its actually one account, if that makes sense.0

The open/start date will be different yes.
But the date of default should be the same0 -
That's what I mean, the open date when it was sold is April, with the default recorded then. On the original account the account defaulted in February.0

are you sure?
The date of default on the account specifically says April?
Not looking at the marker but the actual wording on the account.0 -
Yes, date of default, 4th April.0

Then you will need to contact the agency that has taken the debt on to get it corrected.
But in doing so this will acknowledge the debt - so if it’s one you’re avoiding paying then you need to think about getting it settled or a payment plan in place.0 -
I’m wanting to pay them all in full so will call them tomorrow about it.0
