PPI to protect rent payments in event of a death?

My partner and I are tenants. Following a decline in my 90-year old mother's health, we are taking up a joint lease with her on a three- bedroom bungalow so that we can have her living with us. There is clearly a possibility that she may not live out the tenancy, in which event we would struggle to pay the whole rent until her estate was granted probate. Is it possible to insure her portion of the rent either by us taking out PPI or by some other insurance policy?

Unfortunately if your mother is 90 and in poor health I doubt any insurer would offer life cover (a PPI/ASU policy wouldn't be suitable anyway). Couldn't she just pay over her share of the rent for the initial term now or whatever length of time you might mutually agree.

PPI doesnt cover that sort of thing. Life assurance would but she is too old.
