XL tyres on a compact car (vauxhall corsa)

Options
Hi

ATS euromaster have an amazing deal on michelin tyres

If you get 4 tyres from them, you'll get free fitting (about £50 off), you can get an extra monday discount of 10%, plus if you buy 4 michelin tyres you can redeem a coupon for a free kindle fire HD.

I want to get all season tyres for my wifes car which she drives for about 3000 miles a year.

The only michelin all season they have in her tyre spec is Michelin crossclimate+, it's only available in XL.

Would XL make it a bit on the heavier side or rough on the ride for a corsa, I understand it's for heavier cars/heavier loads like vans.

Post the tyre size up and price you've been quoted.

I bet you I can find a set of 4 at least cheaper than the cost of the Kindle HD.

Website is down, tyre size is 185 65 r15

    But cost here:
    4x michelin crossclimate+ @ 70.99 £283.96
    £50 off promo -£50
    10% monday discount -£23.96
    Total £210

Plus free kindleHD worth £80 (could buy it for £50 on offer/used if you wanted)

I challenge you do beat that, for that price you're looking at cheap chinese tyres.

not interested in camskill or other mail order deals, I live in London, if I take my own tyres for fitting in a tyre place, they'll charge £15-£20 per tyre. Only want all inclusive deals.

COnsidered asda tyres, but the nearest tyre fitter is a vehicle recovery company, I dont want a jack of all trade type firm to be fitting tyres. I want someone who just specialises in tyres to fit them. I know some cowboys dont give you a new valve or dont even balance the tyres and slap them on.

XL tyre will be fine, I doubt you will feel any appreciable difference in ride quality.

£15 per tyre is a standard charge throughout the UK. I live in East Yorks and its that cost here.

Look at Goodyear Four Seasons Gen 2 as well. Almost a match for match with the Cross Climates in tyre tests, losing out slightly in warm dry performance but being better in the wet. Given you're in London the difference in performance won't make any difference as you can't go that fast there anyway.

I just had to state that, because people come on here and say daft things like tyres can be fit for £5 each. Cambelt can be done for £150, clutch can be done for £120 etc.

I do recall on another post a few years back someone suggested camskill and they can get all 4 tyres fitted for £20 total.

£150 for a cambelt? Where do you shop? I bought one for a Montego 1600cc and got change from £13. :)

You need to find a mate with a tyre machine. Few pennies for the hardware and watching him sweat is free. He wishes he had bought the hydraulic one instead. :)

Local independant's can often be cheaper than the online places when you add in all the costs.

So, I pulled the trigger and booked the car in for tyre job next Monday (to get the £24 saving on monday deal).

The kindle fire hd can only be claimed after a tyre is fitted, more than likely it wont even be taken out of the box and sold as a brand new item for £50 on ebay, which will go to the tyre fund so that will make 4x michelin all season tyres for £160. Not bad.
