Vanquis default query

Hi all.
I had a vanquis credit card a few years ago, and stopped paying it due to sudden unemployment.
Upon checking my credit score I have noticed the account defaulted in 2017.
Whilst I don’t dispute the default, the time scale is confusing me.
28 payments were missed before the default was registered.
I first missed a payment in December 2014, then every month until the default was recorded in April 2017.
Is there anyway I can contest it?
As I said, I don’t dispute the default, just when it was applied.

You could ask them to move it to within 6 months of the default.0

I assume this is best done in writing?0 -

Hi,
General FCA guidence is that a default could be registered after between 3/6 missed contractural payments.
Just be aware that the FCA only issue guidence here, they are not hard and fast rules, so the creditor has done nothing wrong, but they may have treated you unfairly if, for example, they default other customers sooner, so yes, a nice written complaint, detail your issues, quote FCA guidence, ask for it to be backdated to when you think it was appropriate.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. Thank you!
I’ll get writing!0 -
Does that also not acknowledge the debt?
OP are you planning on paying off said debt?0 -
Yes I’m planning on paying it off.
I don’t dispute the debt, just the period of time it took to register the default.
I’m hoping to pay it in full at the end of the month.0 -

Just out of curiosity, is the debt still with the original creditor, or has it been assigned or put out to be managed by a debt collection agency ?I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. It’s showing on all 3 credit reports that Vanquis is the creditor.
Others show the debt collection agency, so I’m presuming vanquis still have it.0 -

I’ve had no correspondence for years. I wasn’t even informed of the default. I don’t really want to partially settle as I’m trying to get my credit report on track.0
