0% rates credit card question

Hello, I have roughly £3,000 on a credit card (Virgin) at the moment. The 0% interest rate is ending in May and I am looking to balance transfer to another provider.

I have another credit card which is used for online purchases and the balance is cleared at the end of every month without fail (Santander everyday Credit card)

However, I fear I may be near my credit limit with credit cards already. If I try to open a balance transfer account will other credit card providers reject my application because I have two other cards? Both would have zero on them if the balance transfer was accepted and I would be closing the Virgin one.

Also, what is the likelihood of me being able to close my Santander Everyday Credit Card and open a new one with them almost instantly to take advantage of their current 27 months 0% offer on balance transfers? I assume they wouldn't be happy with me doing that?

Thanks for the advice guys?

Try an eligibility checker, You won't be rejected for only having two cards, but your utilisation and overall credit file may be an issue.

If you do get another, don't close the Virgin one.

You'll generally need to wait a few months before getting a new card with an existing lender.

Most providers have a length of time after closing your account before they will class you as a "new" customer.

I would leave the Virgin open if you only have the two cards to continue your credit history. Just use it on occasion and pay it off, in full. Remember to have a pay in full, direct debit so you dont forget.

How is your credit history? If all good then find a card you like and apply.

There are several providers that have their own eligibility checkers that will give you an indication of acceptance (some will show the potential credit limit).

MBNA, Nationwide, Virgin are the ones that come to mind.

MBNA tend to have some really good deals. I've just got a card myself.
