SDLT1 form for first time buyers

Hi,
I am in the process of buying my first property.
My solicitor has sent me an SDLT1 form to complete and send payment, however, I am a first time buyer and therefore don’t have to pay stamp duty.
Does anyone know if I have to still complete the form and pay anything? I thought not as I am exempt from paying stamp duty.
Thanks in advance
Hannah

Is the property you are purchasing more than £125000 and if your solicitor is asking for one then complete. As first time buyer you will not pay tax.The world is not ruined by the wickedness of the wicked, but by the weakness of the good. Napoleon0 -
as above, did you think to read the instructions before coming on here?
what do you not understand about question 9?
https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/sdlt-guide-for-completing-paper-sdlt1-return/guide-for-completing-paper-sdlt1-returns
Question 9 - are you claiming relief?
You must answer this question ‘Yes’ or ‘No’.
If you answer ‘Yes’, you should enter the appropriate reason code in the second part of question 9.

Hi,
Yes I did, but I was still confused, hence why I was asking.0 -
Hi,
Yes it is. I will complete, I was just unsure about the payment as I know we are exempt and the solicitor hadnt mentioned that.
Thanks for your help0 -
Presumably you chose a solicitor who charges for the completion of the return separately, rather than as part of their headline fees and you thought no SDLT means no return to complete or pay for?I am a mortgage broker.
