update on ppi misselling- Please help
I posted a query on the forum. As I am inexperienced on Forums I do not know how to link it, but you can read it by searching my name tracyb.
Since my initial query, I downloaded a template letter, located the paragraphs that applied to me and sent my complaint to GE Capital.
I have received a response stating the following: (in brief)
The state that the FSA fine related to poicies purchased after 14/01/2005 and as my policy was before then the FSA decision is not relevant.
They say I stated I was not told the policy was optional, but their process was to make it clear that it was not compulsary. Also, on the agreement, the section on PPI requires a signature and as I signed it it appears it was made claer to me (please read my initial posting regarding this)
After that a policy summary and document is issued for review allowing you to either cancel or compare the market.
I have got recipts and documents for various things going back 10 years and more. I my box of important documents, where all my paperwork for the kitchen is, I cannot trace such a letter from them and do not recall seing one.
In my letter to them, I referred to the sales process and in respose they say there was no requirement upon them to record the sales process so they have no way of knowing what took place when signing for the policy. However, I still had 30 days to cancel and di not ( I anticipate they refer to the policy and cancellation document they say they sent.
They say that the insurance has been clearly shown on the statements ( which arrive once a year) and I could have cancelled at any time.
Finally, I referred to pre-existing medical conditions. (I have problems with my bacxk following a car accident, which are recurring) They have asked me to provide evidence of this for them to consider.
Are they right here, or is this a first response letter designed to make me go away.
I know when the salesman produced the paperwork, I was told sign there, there, there etc. Nothing was explained to me as we were rushing as he had been there for hours. I had to get my son from school.
