Gers Really sorry mum isn't doing well. Waggy finger moment though you really must look after yourself as a priority in order to be well enough to care for mum...thinking the oxygen mask analogy on a plane...put it on yourself first before looking after anyone else. Could you take taxis for a little while with this weather so awful? Be worth the extra to stop you getting ill

    Take care love x

    Morning all

Beautiful day here sun is shining and wind dropped, I think we will go for a long walk today.

All washing is up to date and house is fairly tidy so not too much to do.

I fancy a jacket spud for dinner today we have some diced chicken in the fridge so I might make some coronation chicken up and have that in the jacket with salad, will also make a cottage pie for tomorrow night.

:bdaycake:Happy Birthday to Snoozer have a good day xx

Gers hope there is some improvement in mum today xx

    Have good days all xx

    Morning all
The sun is out but it's still very windy.
I didn't have a very good night as Mr Fix It was making weird noises in his sleep  and so I was still awake at 3am :(
Dad hopes to come over as it's Sunday lunch day and we're having roast pork, roasties etc. I shall prep the veg and roast the meat and that's about all for today. There will be sandwiches and bought cake :o for tea. Mr Fix It, for his penance, will throw the hoover over the lounge :rotfl:
Mr Fix It has just chased the horse..... er greyhound out of the garden again. it's so stupid and stands on our patio looking through the doors, wagging it's tail :rotfl:. However I don't want it in my garden, but I can't seem to stop it jumping the fence no matter how high it is .

Nelski I'm joining you with the painkillers as I've got face ache again, probably from grinding my teeth. Hope they do the trick for your back, gentle hugs coming your way :Axx

Dumpling I hope you can get extra support for Lee. Hugs to your family
Gers put your feet up and recharge the old batteries. Love and healing vibes to your DM.
Snoozer Happy Birthday :bdaycake:enjoy your day.

Hope everyone has a good Sunday. Take care all.

    nan xx

    Happy Birthday :bdaycake::bdaycake:

    TA

I am very impressed by the girls winning silver and gold medals and you must be so proud and pleased for them. I echo your thoughts about the SK  What has helped a bit is changing the duvet for a 7.5 tog which is less heavy to manoeuvre and also treating myself to a cozzeehome fleece bedding set from qvc which is lovely and soft and lighter in weight as the others I have are a heavy cotton.

    Gers

I am sorry your Mum is not recuperating very well and it must have been a big shock to her body and her mindset. If you know she has visitors today please take the chance to be good to yourself whether that is sleeping in or a duvet day, watching tv with your feet up or a good book etc. I would suggest a nice peaceful walk but when the weather is bad it is much less relaxing. Hospital visiting is wearing in itself with travel problems, providing stuff the patient needs or something that they would enjoy, checking on how their condition is changing and just general worry and concern.

I have obsessively been checking my boiler and central heating over the last few weeks as the house felt a bit cold and was very surprised when over the last few days the house suddenly feels much warmer and I had to go round turning down the thermostat. Now wonder if the conservatory roof insulation is making the marked difference as it used to be like entering a freezer in there.

I have a tiny beef joint which I want to cook in the PKP with onions and carrots and a little red wine. Plan to do a few roast potatoes in the actifry so they are fairly healthy to go with the beef. The family are not around today so I might even slob around in my fluffy dressing gown and read a book or two.

I have a load of carrier bags in the hall cupboard and I am trying to use them up and generally stuff them all into one bag when I can as otherwise they expand to fit the space. I have just bought a set of fold up cloth bag and intend to have one of them always in my handbag and another in the pocket of whatever coat or jacket I wear as not only does it look better than a tatty and torn carrier but is better for the environment. Middle dd always has a lot of carriers in the boot of her car but if we have popped to a shopping centre never has one actually on her and I end up fishing a tatty plastic one from my handbag or buying a cloth one at the till that advertises the shop .I ended giving the last one I bought to one of her sisters as she liked it so it will get used I hope.

My internal garage is a disgrace but until I get a handyman to assemble a set of shelves and my middle dd to pick up her stuff things are difficult. Over the next couple of days I hope to at least get rid of empty boxes and label things that are in boxes so I can find stuff. I think dds would give me less grief if things are tidy and labelled etc. The bits of carpet on the floor are ruckled up and I tend to trip as does a dd or sil so I want a proper floor covering down eventually ( er by Summer).

    Hugs to all

Morning all! Cat owner got in touch, we have promised to not feed him, and to boot him out of the house. Difficult to keep him out since the back door is usually open except when it's windy and raining, the OH is out and in quite often. But we have promised and thats the way it's going to be.
Today it's sunny but still a bit windy, so I might break out the pressure washer. Or get OH to break it out [unlikely though, he's still in bed and will be going out after] . I won't be cooking much today, I think I'll just sit and admire the pots in the back garden, or maybe move some stuff from the greenhouse to the garage....
Happy Birthday snoozer!! How lovely for you that you GCs are such stars TA :) Nelski, have a ab day of nothingness, and Gers, listen to your auntie Nelski, also my sympathies for you and your mother, she can't be very happy, and being in hospital makes you feel worse sometimes. nmlc, one day at a time it is...SO, nice to see you :) dumpling, good luck in the bedroom [ no, not like that!], hope you can sort it out with him sooner rather than later...

    Wotcha absentees.

Hello, I'm late for no reason.

    Happy birthday Snoozer!

Gintotmelinda I'm sending good wishes for your husband. And also to Gerd for your DM Dumpling, I hope you will be able to access some support for Lee, he is going through the mill, isn't he.

OL I think I'm possibly not that far from you - we have had sunshine, rain, hail, a quick burst of snow, more rain and now the sun us shining again but it is so changeable, I'm staying indoors. My washing has been out but OH brought it back in.

Welcome to yesterday's new poster, we are a friendly and supportive group.

Roast chicken for dinner this evening, with roasties, black kale, various other veg and so on.

I'm quite cold, think I might need to put on my extra fluffy socks of ultimate doom. I've got a new pair since I wore holes in 2 pairs, the new ones are red with white spots, a bit like having toadstools for feet. I really do have to start behaving like an adult, I'm nearly 68.

Nmlc, sorry to hear about your late night phone call and worry about DM
Likewise Gers-hope Mum picks up soon
Taff,at least you know now the cat has a good home and isn't a stray.

    TA well done talented DGDs
Dumpling sorry Lee is struggling, hope you soon get help with him.
Hugs to anyone else in need.

We were rudely awakened this morning by a loud bang & then a knock on the door just after 7.30,followed by the Hound of the Baskervilles reacting very loudly! DH had been up 10 minutes before and looked out to see a covering of snow/hail on the road.Someone had skidded on the bend and run into our car and smashed the headlight and wing.He threw some clothes on and went outside. The man was very apologetic,he only lives in the next road and said his truck just slid into ours when he braked for the bend.He said he doesnt want to go through his insurance and he'll send someone from a garage to have a look later. That's ok but I don't think he realises how much the parts for our particular vehicle will be
We're stuck in now because we dont know what time they'll come!
After a hectic day with DS and DGC ,we decided to go for a quick meal in town last night before going to the cinema to see Fishermans friends, a film about the Cornish fishermens singers who ended up making an album. We both really enjoyed it,made a nice change.
Holly, before I forget,I have had 2 Remoskas, a Grand, and now a Standard and I do like them very much.Chicken turns out very nice, even a small whole one as long as it doesn't touch the lid, which is where the power is.It uses only a little energy too.
Right going to snuggle down with my kindle for a while.Have a good day

  • Afternoon people. Just wanted to wish MR GINTOT all the best for tomorrow's surgery and hope it all goes well.

As usual we are beset with health problems on here. GERS I hope your DM perks up after the current setback. It's a worry for you. DUMPLING too, I hope you can get some help for Lee.

It's been a lovely day here - as long as you are inside looking out! I went out with some rubbish and recycling for the wheelies and, by heck, that wind went straight through me. I soon scuttled back in.

You are right, I am a very proud grandma! The two younger girls love their dancing but the eldest DGD never took to it at all. She did start having lessons when she was younger but it wasn't for her. She always preferred to be sat with her nose in a book. That at least is something inherited from me!

NAN I meant to say yesterday we have always kept a slow cooker at the van and it was used quite frequently. DD also took a halogen oven thing to keep there as well but it's not something I ever used. It's approaching time to open up the 'van for the season and DD is hoping to have it all up and operational in time for Easter. I shall go and help with the setting up but I really don't see myself going to stay again. Too many memories to dwell on when there alone.

Enjoy the rest of the day folks if you can xx
