This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Morning
5am wake up today was hoping for a nice lie in but not to be must have slept funny last night as my back is agony this morning. pain killers for breakfast yum
Did most of downstairs yesterday with a couple of bonus cupboard sort outs. Today I will hit the "shove everything under the stairs" cupboard as I am fighting to get the door shut now. At 5p per carrier bag there is a lot of money fighting to get out of that cupboard
Food last night was a black bean burger. Today I am using up some freezer liver so it will be transformed into my favourite with bacon and onion.
Be nice to actually have to cook something for a change this freezer mission is going well but I miss my weekend cookathons.
Other than that nothing planned bar Sunday Brunch and a lie on the couch
Have a lovely Sunday everyone

Morning everyone
I enjoyed my day of reading and watching TV yesterday. I dozed on and off all day as well but feel much better for it today.
I am getting really fed up of the windy weather that we are getting at the moment, there doesn’t seem to be any let up from it. Never mind, it won’t be long until the clocks change and the lighter evenings always make me feel that summer is finally on its way.
If it isn’t too cold outside this morning I want to have a quick rummage through the freezer in the outhouse to check that my inventory is up to date. I think it is, but as there isn’t too much in there at the moment now is an ideal time.
Redruby I’m glad you had a good time away.
Snoozer I hope you have a good birthday :bdaycake:
Have a good a day everyone.0 -
Good morning everyone :hello:
The wind and rain have finally stopped here, it's been quite dreadful with lots of flooding and trees down but now it's very peaceful out there.
We have had the grandchildren staying for the weekend and also Lilly's friend came over last night after going clubbing. Apparently they haven't had a wink of sleep so I predict a passed out teen later on. My grandson is already up and squashed between the girls watching Shrek, he's happy
. My grand daughter is still fast asleep upstairs.
Lee is having a rough time at the moment so needs a lot of support. He is having a lot of mood swings which is exhausting for him (and us to be honest). I managed to talk him back from the brink yesterday but we need more help so I will be contacting his care co ordinator tomorrow and get him to come and see Lee. I feel so bad for him, he had a fantastic time at Comic-Con but it's been all downhill really since he got back. Some of the problem is a practical thing as his bed is broken and horrible to sleep on but until he has cleared out some of the rubbish in his room, we can't get to it to change it. He has made some progress there but it is still pretty awful to be honest. We have all offered to help but he refuses so it is a bit of a stalemate at the moment.
Steve is in charge of the cooking today and we are having turkey. There was a breast joint in the freezer from Christmas so we are having it today (and tomorrow and probably the next day too :rotfl:) We don't mind though as we all like turkey, especially with cranberry sauce.
Well, that's all my waffle for now, thank you Nelski for starting us off this morning. Take care everyone xx0 -
Morning folks and thanks NELSKI for the start. It feels quite nippy here this morning but at least the gale force wind has dropped and it's not raining! We even have some blue sky! Yesterday the torrential rain was unbelievable.
I was out all afternoon and evening yesterday at the choreography, drama and dancing comp of the Theatre School the DGDs go to. The girls did us proud. Youngest won a gold medal for her Impromptu performance and middle one a silver for her choreography solo. They were both chuffed to bits and I was a very proud grandma! I don't know who they get it from as DD and I both have two left feet!
I need to catch up on a few jobs today. The worst of which is changing the bed. I hate the ordeal of putting on the clean SK duvet cover myself. I know I moan about this a lot but it never gets any easier!
My soup stocks in the freezer were dwindling so yesterday morning I made a big pan each of Celery and Lentil & Bacon. That lot will keep me going in lunches for a while.
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) as always for the sad, worried, poorly or lonely and also our absent friends. Take care all xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Morning everyone,
After days of wind and rain have woken up to blue skies & sunshine, perfick!
I hope to get out in the garden for a while and tidy things up a tad, the bird table was a casualty of the winds as the roof came away when it was blown across the garden but hopefully my DOH can fix that.
Lunch wise it’s Pork Dijon with butter bean mash and after that I will pop over to see Lu.
Hope your back improves during the day Nelski
Happy Birthday Snoozer x
Hugs to all poorlies, have a good Sunday folks x0 -
Good morning all
Thank you for starting us off Nelski. I have a drawer in the kitchen and I'm sure the carrier bags multiply by themselves.
Haven't been outside yet but the wind seems to have stopped. Not sure what we're doing today, not much, but DH will watch the F1 highlights.
Thoughts are with all those finding life difficult at the moment
Take careIf you walk at night no-one will see you cry.0 -
Morning All
Happy Birthday snoozer.
Well done to the dancers TA, you must be very proud.
Well, it's not raining, snowing or blowing a gale! It's a bit frosty but there is blue sky, a very welcome respite to the awful weather we've had lately.
I'm off to Perth today with DD and BF to see DS1 and the DGC. DS1 is making lunch and we'll probably go for a walk if the weather holds.
The furniture painting is going well but the kitchen looks a complete disaster with everything hanging about. I need to get some more paint but that can wait until tomorrow.
Hope you all have a happy Sunday, take care. XX0 -
Morning everyone
Nelski - thanks for starting us off x
Hugs to those that want/need one, and those that poorly or are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Beautiful blue sky and sunshine to start the day off today, so drying up underfoot - forecast looks still mixed for the coming days though.
DH and DS1 got up stupid early to watch the F1, DS1 now gone back to bed and DH watching catchup tv. I'm enjoying first cuppa of the day whilst on here.
Dinner last night was jacket potato, salad, hot quiche, hot bbq chicken drumsticks and scotch eggs - all eaten and enjoyed. Today for lunch we have roast lamb, roasties, mash, cauli/broc cheese, carrots, swede (me), peas, yorkshires and gravy. I'll put the meat in on a long slow cook as we like our lamb cooked that way.
We'll just be chilling today - and visiting the parents this morning. We had just gone to bed last night and the phone starting ringing, and you have that horrible sinking feeling at a phone call that late, but missed it so dialled back to get the no. and it was my parents, so rang back and it was engaged, then dialled again and it was picked up but couldn't get anyone to speak although I could hear someone the other end, so hung up and rang back and mum answered like normal, said to her I was ringing back as she'd phoned and she couldn't grasp that she had phoned me first at all - she was really vague - so will be speaking to dad as she said he'd gone to bed - just wondering if anyone else got a late night call! She's getting worse by the week again at the moment, but we just keep taking it day by day.
Keep safe and well x

Woops I seem to have overlooked that it is SNOOZER's birthday! Have a lovely day with copious amounts of cake xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0

Thank you for the birthday wishes. We went out for a lovely meal with Laura and Brian and Chris and Crystal. I'm tired today though because I didn't sleep well.
I took Ziggy out yesterday in those high winds, I chose my route very carefully to avid any trees but today looks beautiful so will make for a much nicer walk.0 -
Morning everyone.
TA - it's all the pasta bake which makes the DGDs so brilliant.
Dumpling - no easy answer to a teenagers bedroom!
Snoozer - happy birthday. Hope it involves cake.
I had a rough time yesterday and overnight. DM was dreadful, felt so ill and unable to eat. The nurses have been so good, when I mentioned Ensure a bottle of the compact stuff appeared which DM drank through a straw. She's back on oxygen again as her sats are way down. Something she said about herself really upset me and I ended up phoning a good friend at midnight. Added to that was I got so chilled hanging about for buses which were also so cold. I couldn't get warm for ages - ended up with two duvets onthe bed, a HWB and a jumper over my pjs, the house was as warm as toast! I feel better this morning but need more sleep.
There are two friends doing the visiting today (separately) so I can have a break.
Happy Sunday to all.0
