I worked it out roughly. The yield of N6 London is around 2%. A typical aparment costs £600,000. 2% of 600,000 is £12,000. 12,000 x 85 gets you just over 1million pounds.

Stop at that point. Why then would you bother.

Since when did charity shops become meeting places for £million financial discussions?

  • You'd have to factor in expenses. Outgoings on porridge could be quite high.

Sorry, your cultural references from the colonies are lost on us (the Brady Bunch was never broadcast here).

It was popular in the UK, in the 1970s/80s. I remember a lot of the great American movies. Little House On the Prairie, Battle Star Galactica, CHIPs, Different strokes. The list goes on.

Yes, those were all shown nationwide. Others not so. Which ITV region were you in when you saw the Brady Bunch?

The charity shop worker did annoy me with his kind of thinking. 50 properties will not make you a billionaire. Two properties aren't enough to quit your day job. He said the government should restrict landlords to only 2 properties.

Anyway, this is a great learning experience. There will be a bear market at some point. I will be able to get started buying property.

Vauxhall, London. I lived in some old apartments that have been since demolished.
