Are receipts on car repairs transferable to new owner?

I had a repair made to my car in November, paid, and was given a receipt but not a warranty as such. I sold the car 4 weeks ago and the new buyer has had the same problem with the car. The new buyer wants the problem sorting as it was less than 400 miles,/4 months ago, but garage saying receipt not transferable. Can anyone advise?

The garage is correct, although it's a bit mean of them not to do anything.0

What was the repair?0 -
A receipt is exactly that. Its a document that confirms that you have paid a sum of money in exchange of a service being undertaken or goods purchased.
A receipt does not constitute a warranty or guarantee in any form, unless it is indicated within the documentation.
Providing that you didn't give any indication that the repair that was undertaken would be free from hassle, then there is nothing that the purchaser can do about it.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0 -

Providing that you are a private seller and nothing was stated or implied that you would give any warranty on the car and as long as when it was sold it matched the description given then any problems from that day on are down to the new owner to sort out.
If they wanted a vehicle with a warranty then they should have paid extra and purchased from a dealer.0 -
The contract for the repair was between you and the garage, not the person who bought the car and the garage. There is no legal right for guarantees to be transferred and it is entirely down to the company to offer that or not. This is a system account and does not represent a real person.
