Call Divert

I need to use BT Call divert to transfer one line to another while I'm out of the building. The monthly charge of £1.75 is ok, but I did'nt realise I have to pay for incoming calls which have been diverted, obviously at BT standard rates. Does anyone know of any alternative way to divert calls from one phone to another for lower prices?

the cheapest way i could find out is...
I have one O2 pay-as-go and one Vodafone pay-as-go mobiles..
I have added my 02 as my BestFriend no which gives 20% off
and added Vodafone to Family no which gives 10% off.

Top of that CallMobile gives 25% off on all mobile calls..

    Family/Friend
    CallMobile 25% off
    O2 Daytime---(Mon-Fri, 6am-6pm)-12.60----10.08 (20% off)--8.1 (25% off)
    Vod Evening--(Mon-Fri, 6pm-6am)--6.31
    5.679 (10% off)--4.25925 (25% off)
    O2 weekend--(Sat-Sun)
    3.6
    2.88 (20% off)---2.16 (25% off)

Summery.. divert daytime and weekends to O2 mobile (8.1p/min) and on the
evenings divert to Vodafone(2.16p/m). last when you are home turn off the diversion

You can change the diversion by using another phone.

You don't say whether the divert is to another landline or to a mobile. In either case, BT have you trapped because they will charge you for the part of the call which starts when the call arrives at your main number and ends when it reaches your 'divert to' number exactly as if you were sitting at home and dialled the number yourself.

They prevent use of prefix codes (so you can't 'divert to' 1886601234xxxxx or similar) and have to send the divert over the BT network (at their prices).

All in all, a nice little earner for BT!
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.
