PCN forbidding sign

I have a PCN
There was a sign on entering the car park - ‘visitors and staff only Monday to Friday 8.30am to 6.30 pm.’
I parked there on a Saturday and assumed I was ok.
There was however another sign on the other side of the car park. It read ‘visitors and staff only Monday-Friday 8.30am to 6.30pm, please register vehicle at reception, parking tariffs apply at all other times’.
The first part is in large letters in orange, the second part in small black letters.
I made my decision based on the first sign I read at the entrance, which did not give an offer of parking, it was a forbidding sign.
Do you think I have a case to challenge ?

Get yourself photographs of your own taken in the same light conditions as at the time of the parking event. If in darkness do not use flash. But you also need legible photos of the phrasing of the signs. The sign is the purported legal contract between the PPC and and the driver.
You need photos near to where the vehicle parked which do not show the need to purchase tickets. Also take a birds eye view of the car park from Google Earth or Google Maps and mark out where signs are and which ones show the need to pay and those that don't.
Then deal with this as per the NEWBIES FAQ sticky, post #1.
Which parking company? Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

No, I didn’t see that sign. I just saw the first sign on entering the car park, which didn’t mention anything about charges. It just stated ‘visitors and staff only Monday to Friday 8.30am to 6.30pm’
I went back there after I got the fine, and realised there was another sign on the other side of the car park which said something different.0 -

Thanks. It’s Smart Parking0 -
Surely all the signs should mention charges. I can’t be expected to go round reading all of them just in case. The first sign didn’t mention charges. It was a Saturday, so I was adhering to the rule of that sign0

I ain't gonna guess (and neither is a judge), so I suggest you take the photos suggested.0

Smart are nothing to worry about. Their NtK is probably non compliant with PoFA requirements. You need to do some research on this to get to understand what PoFA requirements are. Please don't come back saying you don't understand as the more you know about this, the better you will deal with it.
Then deal with it as per the NEWBIES FAQ sticky, post #1, get a POPLA Code, beat it at POPLA.Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

Whether you think this is right or not is largely irrelevant as you are being pursued on the basis of the signage (all of it from the PPC's point of view). You need to tackle it with logical/legal argument, not righteous indignation.

It was the indignation, not you personally. Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
