Problem neighbour

We’ve had an ongoing dispute with our neighbour’s daughter who doesn’t live at property. She’s made numerous complaints to the council about a loft conversion we had but none of them have been upheld. She is now slamming the gate every time she arrives at or leaves the property and did this today in front of my two small boys. She will also ignore me if I try to talk to her / say hello.
Is there anything I can do about this or just continue to ignore (it’s been going on 6 months).

A gate being slammed, is that it? Ignore it. She's probably looking for a reaction and will give up when it's obvious she isn't getting one.

You need to get this into perspective. If she does not live there how many times a week and at what times when you are in does she slam the gate? Who does the gate belong to? If its yours put some self closing hinges on it that cant be slammed.

I agree about ignoring the gate slamming. I’d also ignore her. There’s no point continuing to say hello or trying to engage her in conversation. It’s probably just fuel for her ire.

What's the relevance of your two boys being there?
She slammed a gate in front of them. So what?
You need to try to regain a bit of perspective. What's your relationship with the people who actually live there like?
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

If it's your gate, just tell her to stop or she'll pay for a new one.
If it's her gate (or parents?) then it'll hopefully come off the hinges in time.
Trust me, there are worse things. I'd gladly swap your gate-slamming neighbour for mine, who cuts down my plants and is so nosey that one day I'm going to chop off her nose when it pokes over my fence .... I'm kiddin' of course, before anyone jumps on this ...

How well do you get along with your actual neighbor?

Looking at previous thread, it seems the neighbour is also of the curmudgeonly variety.

I would have thought it obvious that there will not be any great restoration of love and harmony here, so I'd just go for polite cheerfulness of the type that drives folk like that mad. It's hard to be rude to someone who remains civil.

As others have pointed out, slamming a gate is not really a problem that can't be solved. Don't let it escalate and become a real one.
