What sort of increased premium (car) to expect?

Apologies if there are other threads about this but I didn't see one.
My car insurance is due early next month. The renewal notice has arrived today. It's with Lloyds, fully comp and 3 named drivers, all experienced.
I expected an increase but today's letter is a joke. In round figures, it's gone up from £500 to £900!
I anticipated an above inflation increase because that seems to be general with all annual expenditure.:( Also, we made a claim because my DH scraped the side while reversing:mad: and a door had to be sorted and resprayed.
So, taking both of those things into account, am I right to think that Lloyds are taking the pi**?
I'll use the comparison on this site (and any other advice is welcome) before I renew but I just wanted ask whether this is typical (and have a bit of a rant;)).

Yes it typical for companies to take the mick at renewal, hoping that 85% won't read their post or will be too busy/away/forget.

Yes. we do.
I expected an increase but surely this is OTT.0 -
How many years NCB did you have and how many have you after the accident?0

If you have protected NCB then as your premium was £500 your premium without NCB discount would have been around £1400. I might have expected a £200 jump to £700 but £900 is the sort of figure I would have expected if you had also lost the usual two years NCB.
Have you tried taking DH off the policy because you could then answer the questions differently.
You , as policy holder would still have had to say yes to 'have you made a claim' but to the question 'have you had an accident ' you would say no .0
