I have heard nothing about my final Economy Energy bill, but OVO, like Economy Energy, is being creative with its billing.

OVO is using 6th January readings as its baseline stating that these are actual readings. This is six days before OVO took over the supply.

Looks like EE "mischief" has carried over to OVO. I entered my first gas reading last month. It was 6380, they sent an email confirming this.
I logged in this morning to enter todays reading, turns out they have 5887 as my reading for last month.



Not much of a difference !

I am also waiting for my last EE statement, I'm also still waiting for my first OVO invoice !


My switch to EDF is scheduled to happen on the 28th March, I don't hold out much hope of OVO sorting anything before then.

Thank you, Mr Everready. The statement is a bit hidden on the portal. The statement is incorrectly presented, but it still looks like a deliberate contrivance to reduce the meter readings to benefit OVO. During the transition period, I submitted regular readings from my smart meter and had these confirmed by Economy Energy. The smart meter log would confirm that my readings are correct. They are in effect charging me from 06 January.

Oh well, I move to Octopus on Monday. Since overall I owe more across Economy and OVO than they would owe me, the burden rests upon them to present an accurate bill.

I have just received my first statement from Ovo after they took over from Economy Energy. Starts from 30/1/2019.



They have manipulated the meter readings to inflate my bill.


I gave EE a gas reading on 31/12/2018 of 49327.


Ovo are giving a start reading on 30/1/2019 of 49212 claiming it is an actual read.


I was out of the country for most of this time and my heating was off.


They have also given a false actual read for the electric.

The statement on the portal indicates an "actual" reading on 30 January which is contrived and quite different from the actual reading that I presented. OVO would have the right to charge from 12 January 2019 but it did not ask for reading from that date. In fact, the purported actual reading that OVO is using relates to 6 January. I know because I took the care of submitting reading regularly to Economy Energy and received email verifications. OVO should be able to access smart meter data to obtain actual readings.

Just as Economy Energy appeared to be increasing readings for its own end, OVO appears to be reducing them. Let us hope that OVO is doing this in error.

I've received my "leaving letter" from OVO.

As you're leaving us before the end of your contract, you’ll need to pay an exit fee of £30.

I thought we were allowed to leave free ? I never signed up for OVO !?

There should be no exit fee.

I have otherwise spoken to OVO. OVO requested 30 January meter readings from its customers. From these readings, OVO has calculated estimated readings to assess likely usage on 12 January. OVO has agreed these estimated readings with the receiver at Economy Energy.

My indicative statement is incorrectly constructed because it shows that the figure used as the estimated reading for 12 January is an "actual" reading for 30 January. The estimate is in OVOs favour.

Hence OVO has probably not been disingenuous but it has handled its paperwork very badly.

I decided to put a line in the sand and today I am a customer of Octopus.
