Capital One - are other people being refused card?

Thanks for all the responses. I'm a bit miffed I'm not a 'cherry' they wanted to pick but so be it.
sicker I did a search before posting but didn't pick up the earlier threads so apologies from me.
I just wonder what their 'credit profile' really is ? Does anyone know ? I've got two credit cards ( one Mbna ex Conran and Goldfish ) with combined limit of 14K. Both always paid in full each month. Plan was to ditch both and replace with the Cap One card to get the cashback.
Any suggestions apart from the Egg card paying 1%? I won't bother doing anything this year, I'll leave it till 2008 as I don't want too many searches on my record. That's the irritating bit - of course anyone is entitled to refuse your custom - but then you get paranoid about too many searches on your record. It makes you look desperate !
I was turned down as well and just couldn't understand why as I always pay off balance in full every month, but it seems lots of people on here have been refused this particular card for no apparent reason.
I also felt miffed about it and certainly won't be appealing - they can stick it! Doesn't sound as if their customer service is that good anyway.Stopped smoking 27/12/2007, but could start again at any time :eek:0 -
What credit crunch? I have a Capital1 card and the 4% has expired. Applied for one in my wife's name and she has been accepted with me as additional card holder. PS: The cash back is paid in January."A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

I was also refused a Capital One CC. I applied for it on line and received a letter to say that I was refused. I don't owe anyone a penny, have no debts and no mortgage, so I have no idea why I was refused.
The funniest thing about this is......I already have a Capital One Credit Card in Canada with a $10,000 Credit Limit. (I am a dual Citizen) I don't owe them any money and have had the card for a few years now. The interest rate on this card is 5.99% permanently and for all time, not just on balance transfers. Capital One Canada and USA say that they are completely individual and have nothing to do with any other Countries, but they all use the very same logo etc.
Tiz a very strange world we live in!
